The picture shown is a DIALYSIS process During dialysis, blood is removed from the body through the red tube, passed through the dialysis machine, cleaned of all metabolic impurities, and then reintroduced into the body through the blue tube. This process is repeated for 4 hours while the patient remains motionless in bed. The procedure is performed 3 times a week, or 12 times a month, and each session lasts 4 hours, a total of 48 hours per month. For those who are not sick; this process of purifying your kidneys happens automatically 36 times a day in your body without effort or discomfort, even when you move. So, reduce your consumption of: •Caffeine
•Paracetamol
•Alcohol
• Salt
•Sugar*

*DID YOU CELEBRATE WORLD KIDNEY DAY?*

Did your country celebrate *World Kidney Day* on *March 10*, *2022*?

Awareness of kidney disease is still as low as that of the celebration, and *many people underestimate the vital role the kidneys play*.

The primary purpose of the kidneys is *to filter out water and excess minerals such as sodium and potassium in the form of urine*.

The kidneys have other important factors:

a. _Regulation of sodium and potassium, as well as the pH levels of the blood_.

b. _Production of a form of vitamin D that is important for building healthy bones_.

c. _The release of a hormone renin that helps control blood pressure_.

*Kidney disease occurs acutely when one has an infection or other issues such as injury* ( _heavy blood loss through injury_). This is usually temporary and improves with treatment.

*Chronic kidney disease* ( _CKD_ ) *happens when the kidneys malfunction over a long period*. The disease generally gets worse with time. If left untreated, CKD can lead kidney failure.

Health conditions such as *high blood pressure*, *obesity*, *heart disease*, *diabetes*, and *autoimmune diseases* ( _rheumatoid arthritis, lupus, etc._ ) *can lead to CKD*.

Lifestyle habits such *heavy drinking*, *smoking*, *dehydration*, *some painkillers and high blood pressure drugs*, *etc. can negatively impact the kidneys*.

Always endeavor to visit the laboratory and check your health status, most especially your vital organs.

*WHO DOES THE TOUGH JOB?*

On Monday, i decided to service my car for enhanced performances. Engine oil , oil filter , labour and diagnostic cost . To cap it all i filled the fuel tank up with just . Total cost !
So as i was going back to the office on Tuesday a genuine thought began to creep into my mind. I asked myself, how much have I spent this year to service my body? We have just lost a dear friend and colleague to the cold hands of death. I was told he only complained of toothache and slight headache and then death struck!. For how long will I keep thinking all is well with my health in spite of all odds? I drive through dust at times, inhale all kind of unclean air, drink some water I don't know their sources, face computer and phone with my eyes everyday, expose to phone radiation every hour and on and on and on.

If my car could gulp over in an instance just for fine tuning i think i deserve to diagnose and upgrade my system.
*Who is doing the tough job, you or your car?*
When last did you check up your system, my friends? *Check your eyes, ears, vital organs like heart, liver and lungs. Check your cholesterol, blood-sugar level and do urinalysis*. It could make a difference.

Meningitis is a disease that affects people of all ages.

During the 2016/2017 Meningitis outbreak in Nigeria, deaths were recorded among men, women and children. The disease can be spread among people in close contact with an infected person. Most times, these may be family members.

In a home, meningitis can be prevented by ensuring proper ventilation and practicing good hygiene habits including frequent hand-washing.

If you or your child experiences symptoms such as neck stiffness, sudden and persistent fever, visit a health facility immediately.

If somebody in your family is infected, try to limit his or her contact with other family members.

Meningitis is preventable and treatable. Protect your family always by practicing precautionary measures!!!.
