🧵 The Thread Between Us🧵
A few days before receiving the Sir Ahmadu Bello Platinum Leadership Award, I had a quiet, unusual dream.
I saw a black roll of thread—not full, not new, but intact. Simple. Real. It felt symbolic, though I didn’t fully understand it at the time.
Now I think I do.
This year, I’ve been deeply honored with two prestigious leadership awards from Northern Nigeria plus the title Garkuwan Matasan Arewa (Shield of the Northern Youth):
🏆 Leadership Peace Award of Excellence 2025
(Coalition of Nigerian Women Forum for Peace and Good Governance)
🏆 Sir Ahmadu Bello Platinum Leadership Award + Garkuwan Matasan Arewa*
(Council of Northern Youth Advocate of Nigeria – CNYAN)
As an Igbo daughter, these recognitions from Northern communities—so different from mine—mean more than I can express.
Decades ago, after I lost my father, a Northern man I barely knew—from Bauchi State—quietly stepped into that role. He paid part of my school fees, brought me into his family, and gave me a home among his people. They embraced me as their daughter and loved me as their own. His support shaped my path in ways I will never forget.
Today, two youth groups—who have never met this man—have honored me with awards that reflect the very spirit he showed me.
Maybe that black thread in my dream was a sign.
A spiritual metaphor for the unseen ties that bind us across tribe, pain, purpose, and destiny.
Perhaps
All I know is this: love, leadership, and purpose know no tribe
And maybe... just maybe... my story is meant to be a bridge—a thread woven between peoples, cultures, and futures.
Thank you, my Northern families, for seeing me.
I will carry these honours with deep gratitude and even deeper responsibility.
🕊 Unity is possible. And sometimes, it starts with one quiet, unlikely thread.
