rd of the West Middlesex Hospital, in 1968 he organised a National Symposium on Obesity, the first ever held in the UK. They went on to collaborate and develop what they regarded as the’ perfect diet’. With Dr McLean-Baird, Alan Howard set up a research project at the West Middlesex Hospital. What they wanted to achieve was the creation of a formula food with:

Excellent weight loss properties, but no undesirable side effects
The right level of protein to protect lean tissue
The right level of carbohydrate to promote a mild ketosis and eliminate a sense of hunger
The right levels of vitamins, minerals, trace elements and essential fatty acids to maintain good health

The first formula produced excellent weight loss results, and further work by food technologists enhanced flavours and led to the first commercial version of the Cambridge Weight Plan (originally called The Cambridge Diet). What they wanted to achieve was the creation of a formula food with:

Love bread so much, but on a diet? We've got you .

You have to try out this Low Calorie Cloud Bread Recipe.

Serves: 1
Prep time: 10 Minutes
Cook time: 15 Minutes
Calories: 108 kcal per serving
For 1:1 Diet Step: 2

Ingredients:

1 egg
30g quark
Greaseproof paper

Directions:
1. Pre-heat the oven to 160°C fan, 180°C or gas mark 4.

2. Separate the egg yolk and the white into two bowls.

3. Add the 30g of Quark to the yolk and beat until smooth.

4. Whisk the egg whites until firm. They should form stiff peaks that will hold even when you tip the bowl upside down!

5. Fold the whites into the yolk and quark mixture.

6. Separate into two mounds onto greaseproof paper on an oven tray and cook for 15 minutes until golden brown.

You can eat the cloud bread in several ways: Margherita pizza, Ploughman’s sandwich or Egg’s benedict.

Princess started the 1:1 Diet Plan on the 24th of February 2026 at 93 kg and by 16th of March this same year, she had lost approximately 10 kg. By 27th of March, her weight had dropped to 81.2 kg. She also had the support of her Consultant (Consultant Esther).
