When I was thought about cultural factors affecting pain perception in Labour,I thought it was just for learning sake πŸ˜ƒ 😊

So yesterday We had 3 women for IOL(Induction of labour) ,so amongst the 3 women are one Hausa and 2 Igbo women,So after the procedure, catheter fell off and Labour commenced( Augumentation was also done).

I noticed one thing, during the procedure This hausa lady a 24year old didn't make any noise as compared to my village peopleπŸ™„ that were shouting down the roof.
When I noticed what was happening, as she was almost 7cm dilated I went to her and told her to always communicate whatsoever that is happening to me,as I have other women am monitoring too,she nodded in affirmation

The next thing i saw was that baby's head is almost out,yet no shouting was noted, but her facial grimaces was 😬 😬.I quickly rushed to conduct her delivery.
Hausa women need to really educate us on how they do it 😀

Preterm, also known as premature birth, is when a baby is born before 37 weeks of pregnancy.

Care for preterm babies often involves specialized medical attention in a neonatal intensive care unit (NICU), focusing on supporting their development and addressing potential health issues.

Preterm care includes:
- Respiratory support (oxygen, ventilation)
- Temperature regulation (incubators)
- Nutrition (IV or breast milk via tube)
- Monitoring for complications (infections, jaundice)
- Developmental support (kangaroo care, physical therapy)

Kangaroo care is skin-to-skin contact where the baby is held against the caregiver's chest. Benefits include:
- Regulates baby's heartbeat and breathing
- Promotes bonding
- Helps with breastfeeding
- Supports temperature regulation

I saw high pain threshold in another dimension today,I used to hear that Hausa women have high pain tolerance and today I ghat to confirm it.

So It happened that this hausa lady a 24year old multi gravida presented to our facility for induction of labour,so when labour finally commenced, normal Igbo woman will shout off the roof when contractions starts but this patient in question was just as calm as, you will only see her facial grimace to know she's having contractions πŸ˜‰

Because I ve heard about Hausa women and their pain tolerance,I went to her and told her to always inform me if there is anything as I also have 2 other women in labour too.

The next time I heard her voice, before I could say Jack robinson baby's head was already visible on the vulva,I had to rush and quickly conduct the delivery.

This was indeed an unforgettable experience

My first experience with Anasthesia!!@@@
So sometime few months ago,I had a minor procedure that requires administration of general anesthesia, at first I was so nervous but because it was all for good and I had no other option,so fast forward to the d-day.

On getting to the hospital, the procedure was explained thoroughly,I gave a consent and boom to the theatre, after a word of prayers by the team,it was now time to administer the Anasthesia, I was instructed to count numbers 1 to 20 and I started with much energy little did I know what's ahead πŸ€” πŸ€”

The last number I know I counted was 11 and everywhere got blurred, was just seeing white clouds all over,.I couldn't just describe what I was going through honestly, but I was shaa chanting Fr Mbaka's music, I don't know if it was the music in the Theatre or just the effect of the medication
The next place I got myself was in my room and that was after the procedure, the way and manner I got there I couldn't tell but there was indeed a movement πŸ˜ƒ 😊 πŸ˜€

So when the Nurses came to check up on me I asked them hope I didn't disgrace my village people during the procedure, their response is just a story for another day😐 πŸ˜‘ πŸ™ƒ

I got to know that that ecstatic feeling is what drug addicts look out for whenever they wanna feel high, like seriously???
That isn't a good feeling if I am to say
Gosh!! That feeling no follow at all
