Who we are

Magna Carta Health (MCH) is a health services company that is focused on providing disease management and prevention programs to individuals, employers, health maintenance organizations (HMOs), hospitals, and the government. Our disease management and prevention programs help members stay healthy and manage chronic disease such as heart disease, stroke, diabetes mellitus, cancers, asthma, and chronic respiratory diseases. We are focused on improving health outcomes and quality of life from an individual perspective as well as across an entire population. We want to empower communities to be effectively involved in the provision of their own healthcare. We recognize that improved health outcomes can only be achieved by combining the clinical guidance of skilled physicians with a technology enabled disease management and prevention team; hence our partnership with physicians to improve the health of the population.

On International Women’s Day, we explore a powerful truth: To Give is to Gain.

As women, we are often the primary givers - to our children, our careers, and our communities. But today, we shift the narrative.

When you Give yourself the priority of a health check-up, you Gain the power to show up for everyone else.

When you Give your body rest, you Gain mental clarity.

When you Give time to preventive screenings, you Gain a future free from "what-ifs."

At Magna Carta Health, we believe that an empowered woman starts with a healthy woman.

What is one thing you are "giving" yourself today to "gain" a better tomorrow?

When you break a 14-hour fast with heavy carbohydrates (white rice, bread, fried dough) and high sugar (sodas, syrupy juices, excessive dates), your body experiences a Glucose Spike.
1. The Spike: Your blood sugar skyrockets instantly.
2. The Crash: Your pancreas panics and pumps out a massive amount of insulin to clear that sugar.
3. The Fog: By the time you wake up for Sahoor or start your workday the next morning, your blood sugar has dipped below baseline. This "hypoglycemic dip" starves your brain of its preferred fuel, leading to:
* Inability to focus.
* Irritability.
* Extreme midday lethargy.

Adopt this 3-Step Iftar Reset

1. The "10-Minute Gap" Rule
Don't rush the meal. Break your fast with water and one - three dates (an immediate glucose), then pray or wait 10 minutes before the main meal. This allows your brain’s "satiety signals" to catch up, preventing overeating.

2. The "Plate Architecture"

* 50% Fiber: Leafy greens, vegetables, or peppers.
* 25% Protein: Chicken, fish, beans, or lean meat (Protein stabilizes the sugar response).
* 25% Complex Carbs: Brown rice, sweet potato, or whole grains.

3. The "Fiber First" Hack
Science shows that eating fiber or a small salad before the starch can reduce the glucose spike by up to 30%.

Common Causes of Seizures

1. Structural or Brain Damage

Damage to the brain tissue is a primary cause. This can happen at any stage of life:

Prenatal Injury: Before birth, babies are sensitive to brain damage caused by maternal infections, poor nutrition, or oxygen deficiencies.

Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI): Severe head injuries from car accidents, falls, or sports.

Brain Tumors: As a tumor grows, it can irritate surrounding brain tissue and trigger abnormal electrical activity.

Stroke: This is the leading cause of epilepsy in adults over age 65, as the lack of blood flow can scar brain tissue.

2. Genetic Factors

Some types of epilepsy run in families. It’s rarely caused by a single gene; instead, it is often a combination of several genes that make a person more sensitive to environmental triggers.

3. Infectious Diseases

Infections that affect the brain or its protective lining (meninges) are common triggers, especially in certain geographic regions:

Meningitis (inflammation of the brain/spinal cord membranes).

Encephalitis (inflammation of the brain itself).

Neurocysticercosis (a parasitic infection common in many parts of the world).

HIV/AIDS and Cerebral Malaria.

4. Developmental Disorders

Epilepsy is frequently associated with developmental conditions, likely due to how the brain's wiring was formed during early growth:

Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD).

Neurofibromatosis.

5. Metabolic and Chemical Imbalances

Seizures can be provoked by extreme changes in the body’s chemistry:

High Fever (Febrile Seizures): Common in young children.

Extreme Blood Sugar: Very high or very low glucose levels.

Electrolyte Imbalances: Severe deficiencies in sodium, calcium, or magnesium.

Today is , and we’re speaking up to clear the air. Epilepsy is not a spiritual "affliction" or something to be ashamed of. It is a neurological condition, an electrical storm in the brain that requires medical understanding, not isolation.

At Magna Carta Health, we believe that with the right diagnosis, consistent medication, and a supportive community, people living with epilepsy can reach every milestone they dream of.

Help us break the stigma. Share one fact you learned about epilepsy today in the comments! 👇
