"I Am Something People Hate… But Clap for Me."

I’m the mosquito.
Tiny, noisy, and everywhere.
People hate me… but when they kill me, they celebrate like they just defeated Goliath.

But here’s the twist — I’m not even the deadliest part.
It’s what I carry that does the real damage.
I’m just the messenger. Malaria is the killer.

Every 2 minutes, a child somewhere dies because of me.
Every day, families lose loved ones to a disease that can be prevented.
And the worst part? In some places, mosquitoes live better than people — stagnant water, poor drainage, no nets, and no education.

Today is World Malaria Day — not just a day to post stats, but a reminder that:
🦟 Prevention is better than cure.
🦟 Clean environments matter.
🦟 Vector control is not a suggestion — it’s survival.
🦟 Access to healthcare saves lives.

As a vet student and One Health advocate, I’ve learned this:
When we protect the environment, we protect humans and animals too.
Malaria is not just a health problem — it’s a development problem.

Your surroundings can be your enemy or your ally.
So maybe it’s time to stop clapping for killing one mosquito and start building systems that keep the next 10,000 away.

If you’ve ever been down with malaria, you know it’s no joke.
Let’s do better. Clean better. Educate more. Support community health efforts.

This mosquito might be small, but the battle is big.

Know Hepatitis B: Protect Yourself, Protect Others!

We’re excited to kick off our 2025 outreach with Hepatitis B Campus Screen at Joseph Sarwuan Tarka University, Makurdi.

Join us for a day of free hepatitis B screening along with free distribution of condoms and sanitary pads.

Let’s work together to reduce the morbidity and mortality associated with hepatitis B (the most common serious liver infection worldwide, and the leading cause of primary liver cancer) through awareness, screening, and then treatment or vaccination.

Come one, come all. Be in control of your health. Spread the word, not the virus!

📢 Immunization for All: A Humanly Possible Goal!

Immunization is one of the most powerful tools for preventing infectious diseases and protecting public health. Vaccines have saved millions of lives, eradicated smallpox, and brought us closer to eliminating diseases like polio and measles. Beyond protecting individuals, immunization strengthens communities, boosts economies, and safeguards societies.

🌍 The Impact of Immunization
According to the World Health Organization (WHO), vaccines have prevented millions of deaths and countless cases of illness and disability. Between 2010 and 2015 alone, immunization is estimated to have saved over 10 million lives!

Yet, despite remarkable progress, many individuals and communities still lack access to vaccines. Factors such as poverty, geographic barriers, conflict, and social exclusion prevent millions from receiving life-saving immunizations. These gaps put vulnerable populations at risk and weaken efforts to achieve herd immunity.

💉 Making Immunization for All a Reality
Ensuring equitable vaccine access requires collective effort. To achieve immunization for all, we must:
✅ Invest in immunization programs and healthcare systems.
✅ Expand access to vaccines, especially in remote and underserved areas.
✅ Engage communities to build trust and promote vaccine acceptance.
✅ Strengthen healthcare infrastructure to deliver quality immunization services.
✅ Foster global cooperation to share resources, knowledge, and expertise.

As we mark Immunization Day, we call on governments, healthcare professionals (both human and veterinary), communities, and individuals to take action. Together, we can:
🔹 Strengthen immunization programs and services.
🔹 Improve vaccine accessibility and affordability.
🔹 Encourage vaccine acceptance and awareness.
🔹 Support research and innovation for new vaccines.

✨ Together, We Can Achieve Immunization for All!
Immunization is not just a responsibility—it is a humanly possible goal. By uniting efforts, we can create a healthier world where everyone has access to life-saving vaccines.

📌 Stay tuned for our upcoming quiz on Immunization! Let’s test our knowledge and spread awareness!
