Today marks a defining moment in our journey towards securing lasting solutions for our displaced brothers and sisters, as we officially launch the Benue State Action Plan on Durable Solutions; a robust and strategic framework designed to return, integrate, and resettle over 500,000 displaced persons in Benue State.

With the collective support of our local and international partners, we are not just addressing displacement but transforming it into an opportunity for long-term development. Already, lands have been generously donated by communities in Makurdi, Guma, Kwande, Gwer-West, Agatu, and Logo for relocation and farming, ensuring that our displaced population can rebuild their lives with dignity.

This journey has been made possible through ongoing community dialogues, government initiatives, and partnerships with agencies such as the IOM, UNHCR, and the Federal Government. Notable projects include the construction of over 4,000 dignified shelters with access to essential services in Guma LGA.

I am particularly proud to announce that 10% of the 2025 State Budget has been dedicated to ensuring the successful implementation of this Action Plan, reaffirming our commitment to building a future where no one is left behind.

Together, we are creating a new narrative for our dear state; one of peace, prosperity, and enduring hope for our people. I invite the Federal Government, UN agencies, international partners, and our fellow citizens to join us in making this vision a reality.

I would like to thank President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, UN agencies such as UNHCR, IOM, UNDP, the RC’s office, and other development partners for their support.

Yesterday, at the burial of our traditional ruler, Zaki Joseph Toko Zumbe, in Mbangur, Vandeikya Local Government Area, we gathered to honour a leader of immense wisdom and selfless dedication to the welfare of his people.

His reign was marked by an unshakable commitment to unity, peace, and progress, not only in Mbamasen, Mbangur, and Mbadede Council Ward but also in Vandeikya at large.

Zaki Zumbe's legacy of love, integrity, and adherence to traditional values will forever remain in our hearts. As we lay him to rest, I urge the good people of Mbangur and the entire Vandeikya community to continue upholding the peace and unity he so passionately defended.

May the soul of our beloved Zaki Toko Zumbe rest in eternal peace. Amen!

The Power of Gratitude: How Focusing on the Good Can Transform Your Life

Gratitude is a powerful tool that can transform our lives in profound ways. By focusing on the good things in our lives, we can shift our perspective, build stronger relationships, and even improve our mental and physical health.

Research has shown that people who practice gratitude on a regular basis experience a range of benefits, including increased happiness, better sleep, and stronger immune systems. They also tend to be more resilient and better equipped to handle life's challenges.

So how can you start cultivating gratitude in your own life? Try keeping a gratitude journal, writing down three things you're thankful for each day. You can also share your gratitude with others, whether it's through a kind word or a small gift.

Remember, gratitude is a muscle that needs to be exercised regularly to see results. But with consistent practice, you can start to experience the transformative power of gratitude for yourself.
