SENNA AND DILL (ASWANI) MEDICINAL BENEFITS
Senna is one of the blessed plant by Prophet Muhammad. Senna is called ASWANI in Yoruba while FILASCO in Hausa. It was narrated by Asma Bint Umais, may Allah be pleased with her, that the messanger if Allah SAW asked her: What do you use as a laxative she said SPURGE, he said, "it is hot and powerful". She said "Then I used senna as laxative and the Prophet SAW said "if there were to be a cure for death in anything, it would be in senna". Narrated by Al-Tirmudhi Ibn Majah.
The extract from senna leaf act as stool softening and mucus extrator from the colon. A pregnant woman shouldn't be allowed to use it. Mix Senna with fennel or aniseed to reduce the pain that may occur.
Senna or ASWANI has no side effects, it strengthes the heart and acts as a laxative.
The American journal of Gastroenterology, 82, 1987, he confirmed the qualitative superiority of Angiolax as a stool softening drug for treating chronic constipation, because it contains Senna (ASWANI) as a distinct substance.
As for the amount of it as laxative effect, it's 10-15 leaves crushed and stem removed, mix with 2kg of ground fennel or aniseed, to be taken in the form of powder and followed with a drink of water on an empty stomach or soaked in boiled water and drink on an empty stomach.
The flowers of Senna can also be used as stool softener and fight worms. In case if infection, the seed were used in the form of a gargle. Senna is used as remedy for snakebite and the leafs are used to cleanse the blood and the seed as a remedy for asthma.
Senna leafs according to the researchers, it is anti-viral and anti-fungal. The paste of Senna in the skin also help to cure skin diseases like ring worm rashes etc. Senna leafs or flower powder is also help in the fertility if a man and woman. Senna also help to remove all the obstructios from the body system.
People with infection in the stomach, intestines, appendix, colon, bladder or uterus and pregnant women should not take Senna.
