What is the relationship between heridity and Kidney disease?

When you meet our Nephrologist for accessment, you are being asked to give a family history. This is because, the predominant causes of Kidney failure which are Diabetes and Hypertension are hereditary and can be transferred from parents to offsprings.

This means that people who have a family history of these two conditions should be more careful and start on time to apply the right preventive and control measures to avoid it escalating later in life.

Most people wonder what it is that actually cause Kidney failure and what they can do to prevent their kidneys from failing .

Well, there are no specific causes of Kidney failure, but there are risk factors that can predispose one to it. The major risk factors include; high blood pressure and diabetes.

These two are called the major factors because they have direct effects on the kidneys. We will be explaining in details in our subsequent posts.

We were delighted to host His Excellency, the former Governor of Anambra Mr. Peter Obi at Premium Kidney Hospital Nnewi on Saturday, 26th of August 2023.

During the course of his visit, he seized the opportunity to run Kidney function tests.

In his words "It is often said that health is wealth because healthy people are more productive than the infirm." With this, we implore the general public to take good care of their health and constantly run checkups to know the state of their health.
