Amenorrhea is absence of menstrual periods
There are two types of amenorrhea
1: Primary amenorrhea—This is when a girl does not get her first period by age 15.
2: Secondary amenorrhea—This is when a woman who already menstruates does not get her period for 3 months or more.
What can cause absent periods?
Common causes of a missed or late period include:
1: Being pregnant

3: The start of menopause (perimenopause), usually between the ages of 45 and 55
4: Polycystic o***y syndrome (PCOS)
5: Sudden weight loss
6: Beeing overweight
7: Doing too much exercise
8: Taking contraceptive pills
9: Breastfeeding
Sometimes the gap between your periods may just vary each time. Your periods might come early or late. This is known as having irregular periods.
Periods can also sometimes stop as a result of a medical condition, such as heart disease, diabetes or an overactive thyroid.
