Growth is a major characteristic of every living thing and organization. It is a clear indication of progress and successful transition. There is a special joy that comes with seeing whatsoever that is within your care grow and that was the case during the weekend as we commenced the opening of an annex of Grace Hospital in Amala.

Our vision at Grace Hospital Eziama is to provide quality and affordable health care to rural areas that lack such as an arm of Gospel Missionary Church to spread God’s Love and Amala is one of such communities. It is a blessing to extend the light of quality healthcare to shine brightly in that community.

During our consultations with the three Ezes - traditional rurals and custodians of the cultures of Amala, we were happy as they embraced us with the hands of fellowship and gave us their royal blessings to commence activities in Amala.

A 3 day prayer and consecration exercise was conducted at the new site to get the place ready for official resumption on the 1st of July 2023.

Though we are starting with a leased apartment but will leave no stone unturned in ensuring we maintain a permanent presence in Amala as the Lord wills.

Join us in this journey of taking the light of quality and affordable healthcare to the people of Amala community.

God bless you all

FIGHTING HYPERTENSION

Take control of your health today with these hypertension-fighting foods.

Bananas
You’ve heard that an apple a day keeps the doctor away. But you might not know that a banana a day keeps high blood pressure at bay. This fruit is packed full of potassium -- an important blood pressure-lowering mineral. Potassium helps balance sodium in the body. The more potassium you eat, the more sodium your body gets rid of. Start your day off with a heart-healthy banana by adding it to a nutritious breakfast, such as whole-grain cereal or low-fat yogurt.

Beans
Like oats, beans are packed with soluble fiber and offer similar blood pressure-lowering benefits. Eating more beans not only fights high blood pressure, but it promotes a healthy weight. You can slim down while protecting your heart. Beans are also protein-rich and packed with minerals. You don’t have to demote them to side-dish status. Eat them to replace a meat meal or two.

Nuts
When it comes to beating high blood pressure, nuts are an important part of the equation. Adding nuts to your diet significantly slashes high blood pressure risk. They’re a good source of potassium, magnesium, fiber, and protein. Just remember that they’re also high in calories. It’s easy to lose track if you nosh on them out of the can. Instead, measure out a 1.5-ounce serving – about a handful. Enjoy them as a snack or add them to soups, salads, and other meals.

Tomatoes
Reach for a tomato the next time you find yourself in the produce aisle. These red wonders are loaded with lycopene, a potent antioxidant shown to offer various health benefits, including lowering blood pressure.

Lycopene gives red fruits and vegetables their rich color and is a key component of the Mediterranean diet -- an eating pattern known to lower the risk of heart disease. Not only does lycopene keep blood pressure in check, but having high levels in your blood reduces bad cholesterol and lowers the risk of stroke.

Amazing Benefits Of Carrots For Your Health

The benefits of carrots are known to many of us. These veggies are scientifically called Daucus carota, and offer important benefits when included in our regular diet. They are nutrient-dense and are packed with beneficial antioxidants, vitamins, minerals, fiber, and beta-carotene.

1. Promote Eye Health
Vitamin A, in recommended quantities, is essential for good vision, and carrots offer the nutrient in abundance. If a person is deprived of vitamin A for too long, the outer segments of the eyes’ photoreceptors begin to deteriorate. This leads to night blindness. Insufficient vitamin A can disrupt the normal chemical processes involved in vision. Restoring adequate vitamin A intake can facilitate vision health.

2. Reduce Risk Of Cancer
Carrots contain numerous phytochemicals that are well-studied for their anticancer properties. A few of these compounds include beta-carotene and other carotenoids. These compounds promote immunity and activate certain proteins that inhibit cancer cells. Studies show that the juice from carrots can combat leukemia as well. The carotenoids present in carrots may reduce the risk of stomach, colon, prostate, lung, and breast cancers in women. Some believe carrots may also reduce oral cancer risk. However, more research is warranted in this regard.

3. Promote Skin Health
Carrots are rich in carotenoids. Research suggests that fruits and vegetables rich in these compounds can improve skin appearance and also help people look relatively younger.

4. Aid Weight Loss
Raw, fresh carrots are about 88% water. A medium carrot has only about 25 calories. Hence, including carrots in your diet is a smart way of filling yourself up without piling on calories.
Carrots also contain fiber. In a study, meals containing whole and blended carrots resulted in higher satiety levels in the test subjects.

5. Regulate Blood Pressure
One study claimed that carrot juice contributed to a 5% reduction in systolic blood pressure. The nutrients present in carrot juice, including fiber, potassium, nitrates, and vitamin C, were found to aid this effect.

6. Boost Immunity
Vitamin A regulates the functioning of your system and prevents infections. It achieves this by boosting your body’s immunity. Get this immune-boosting vitamin from carrots. Carrots also contain vitamin C that contributes to the production of collagen, which is essential for wound healing. This nutrient further contributes to a strong immune system.

7. Promote Liver Health And Eliminate Toxins
Carrots contain glutathione. The antioxidant was found to have the potential to treat liver damage caused by oxidative stress. The veggies are also high in plant flavonoids and beta-carotene, both of which stimulate and support your overall liver function. The beta-carotene in carrots may also combat liver diseases.

To function properly, all the cells and organs of the body need water.

Here are some reasons our body needs water:

1. It delivers oxygen throughout the body

Blood is more than 90 percent water, and blood carries oxygen to different parts of the body.

2. It boosts skin health and beauty

With dehydration, the skin can become more vulnerable to skin disorders and premature wrinkling.

3. It cushions the brain, spinal cord, and other sensitive tissues

Dehydration can affect brain structure and function. It is also involved in the production of hormones and neurotransmitters. Prolonged dehydration can lead to problems with thinking and reasoning.

4. The digestive system depends on it

The bowel needs water to work properly. Dehydration can lead to digestive problems, constipation, and an overly acidic stomach. This increases the risk of heartburn and stomach ulcers.

5. It flushes body waste

Water is needed in the processes of sweating and removal of urine and f***s.

6. It helps maintain blood pressure

A lack of water can cause blood to become thicker, increasing blood pressure.

7. It prevents kidney damage

The kidneys regulate fluid in the body. Insufficient water can lead to kidney stones and other problems.

8. Weight loss

Water may also help with weight loss, if it is consumed instead of sweetened juices and sodas. “Preloading” with water before meals can help prevent overeating by creating a sense of fullness.

DRINK ENOUGH WATER!!!

We got several messages from some of the hopeful beneficiaries of the free surgical outreach. They requested that if they could get a discount then they might be able to afford their surgeries. The message has been related to the management team and we're hopeful for a positive response. Whatever will benefit our clients is a priority to us at Grace Hospital Eziama
