I totally forgot that this is Africa and wild bees don’t live in the forest alone, they also live in residential areas if they find it appealing. Recently, my beehive removals have been smaller colonies or mildly aggressive bees except when I encountered a strong colony some years back.
I didn’t prepare for this at all, I had thought, they will take the bait so I can remove them safely. These lady bees have a strong formation. They were ready to attack any form of threat, all of the residents had to flee😂. Anyway, this is what I live for, the thrill and the danger that keeps my mother up at night.

Last year, we were at the Nigeria Agrofood exhibition with Fauzziyah's raw honey. This year we are coming with our raw honey and Oyin black soap. We have not reviewed our prices since 2024, and though it has caused a huge strain on the brand, we want to keep the price the same until the end of this exhibition. Agrofood exhibition begins on Tuesday 24th of March and it will end on Thursday 27th of March.

This is how I prepare before entering the beehive.
I dress up when I am close to the Beehive.
At this point, I am completely far away from the village and there is no network on my phone. This is the most peaceful part of my day, when I can just soak in the silence and enjoy the gentle uncontaminated breeze. That lasts until I enter the beehive, the buzz of the bees and the heat in my beesuit takes out the silence and the breeze.
My work is with wild bees only so it is chaos from there🤣.

I am in Abuja for the National Youth Agribusiness

This is the last stage of rendering beeswax. The first and middle stages are very messy and stressful. I use beeswax for a lot of things. I use it to build beehives for the bees and to coat wood to make it stronger and prevent termites. I use beeswax to make our beloved Oyin black soap. I also use it to make candles and my beeswax candles are so beautiful.
