🥺Shocking and surprising reasons Why Some Women Push for a Short Time during labour… and Others Push for Hours before they deliver
During labor, the “pushing stage” (second stage of labor) can be very different from one woman to another. Some push for just a few minutes, while others may take hours — and both can be completely normal.
👉Here is the reasons 👇
📌🔹 1. First Baby vs. Experienced Moms
First-time mothers usually push longer (sometimes 1–3 hours or more)
Women who have given birth before often push faster because their body has done it before
📌🔹 2. Baby’s Position
If the baby is in the ideal head-down, face-back position → faster pushing
If the baby is facing up or sideways → pushing may take longer
📌🔹 3. Strength of Contractions
Strong, regular contractions help move the baby down quickly
Weak or irregular contractions can slow things down
📌🔹 4. Use of Epidural
An epidural can reduce the urge to push
Some women may need more time because they can’t feel contractions well
📌🔹 5. Baby’s Size
Smaller babies may come out faster
Larger babies may require longer pushing
📌🔹 6. Pelvic Shape and Size
Every woman’s pelvis is different
Some shapes allow easier passage, others make pushing take longer
📌🔹 7. Mother’s Energy Level
A tired or exhausted mother may push less effectively
Rest and support can make a big difference
📌🔹 8. Guidance and Support
Good coaching from nurses, midwives, or doctors helps shorten pushing time
Poor guidance can make labor longer and more stressful
📌🔹 9. Emotional State
Fear, stress, or anxiety can slow labor
Feeling calm and supported can help the body work better
💡 Important Note, please Mama always bear in mind that 👇
Long pushing doesn’t mean something is wrong, and short pushing doesn’t mean it was “easier.” Every labor is unique.
