That Blue light is called Phototherapy used in treating babies who have Jaundice.

Jaundice is the yellowish discolouration of the sclera in the eyes and also the skin.

If detected on time, it is treatable.

If undetected on time, it can cause Kernicterus (Damage to the Brain) Baby will not be able to achieve his/her developmental milestones.

Once your baby is diagnosed with Jaundice, the baby's blood sample will be taken to check for the level of Bilirubin in the blood and your Doctor will decide if baby requires Phototherapy or EBT (Exchange Blood Transfusion).

Our Baby in this picture was diagnosed with Physiological Jaundice and was treated with Phototherapy by our Consultant Paediatrician.
