Secondhand smoking, also known as passive smoking, is the inhalation of smoke from someone else's cigarette, pipe, or other to***co product. This can occur when you are Near a smoker, In a room where someone is smoking, or In a vehicle with a smoker.
Secondhand smoke contains over 7,000 chemicals, many of which are toxic and can cause serious health problems, including:
1. Lung cancer
2. Heart disease
3. Respiratory problems (e.g., asthma, bronchitis)
4. Increased risk of sudden infant death syndrome (SIDS)
5. Other cancers (e.g., throat, mouth, nasal sinus)
If you're sitting next to a person who's smoking, you're also smoking.
