The Youth Neurosciences Association of Nigeria – UNIZIK Chapter is excited to present a transformative One-Day Neuroscience Outreach happening on 21st November 2025!

This outreach is designed to enlighten, inspire, and empower students through engaging activities such as:

Day 6:Mentorship session on Career prospects in Computational Neuroscience

Evren Gokcen (PhD)
Robert Bosch LLC

Evren Gokcen is an AI Research Scientist at Bosch, with a focus on multimodal foundation models and generative AI. Prior to Bosch, Evren was a Postdoctoral Research Associate in Electrical and Computer Engineering at Carnegie Mellon University (CMU), where he also completed his PhD. At CMU, his research lay at the intersection of machine learning, signal processing, and computational neuroscience, with a focus on understanding communication between multiple brain areas. He is recognized for developing dimensionality reduction frameworks to analyze high-dimensional neural recordings and has a strong interdisciplinary and collaborative approach to research.

Evren is a remarkable educator who has made significant contributions to various educational initiatives. He has served as a teaching assistant and instructor at Caltech, CMU, and the TReND in Africa program, catalyzing learning experiences and fostering growth among students.

Merylin has a Bsc in Zoology from the University of Ibadan, and she's currently a research assistant in Drosophila research lab, Biochemistry department, University of Ibadan. Her research focuses on understanding brain development, including protective mechanism against early brain defects and the factors leading to neurodevelopmental disorders.
