UNODC DRUG PREVENTION TREATMENT AND CONTROL TRAINING

November 2024 PSN RIVERS DSARC under the chairmanship of Pharm. Agbomma Esom-Ibe FPSN organized UNODC Drug Prevention Treatment and Control training in partnership with Ministry of Health, Rivers State.

In attendance was the Rivers State Commissioner of health Dr Chidinma Adaeze Oreh, Director of Pharmaceutical Services Rivers state, NDLEA State Officials, over 40 Pharmacists, other healthcare professionals, religious leaders and other relevant stakeholders.

DPTC Certificates was issued and some hospitals and Community Pharmacies was approved for DROP-IN CENTRES.

DSARC provided platform for capacity building for Pharmacists and other relevant stakeholders in the health sector.

*IN JULY 2022, PSN RIVERS LEADERSHIP SECURED AN ENDOWMENT FUND OF #15,000,000 FROM OUR PARTNER LATE PHARM. BENONI LAWSON FOUNDATION*

In order to sustain the ongoing fight against drugs and substance abuse, PSN RIVERS leadership ably led by Pharm. Anele Promise Enyi initiated a discussion with our partner BENONI LAWSON FOUNDATION on the need to create an endowment fund to sustain the ongoing activities of BENONI LAWSON FOUNDATION CENTRE FOR REDUCTION OF DRUGS AND SUBSTANCE ABUSE/DSARC

The sum of #15,000,000 was donated and the fund was immediately invested in Sterling Bank Plc.
So far, that investment has yielded over six million naira ( #6,000,000).

Today PSN RIVERS DSARC activities is currently self funding.

WHY WE DO WHAT WE DO

THE DRUG AND SUBSTANCE ABUSE REDUCTION CAMPAIGN (DSARC)

DSARC is a prompt response of the Rivers State Branch of the Pharmaceutical Society of Nigeria to the daunting menace of Drug and Substance Abuse in Nigeria, particularly in Rivers State.

The Society as a responsible professional group which caters for the medication needs of the society having observed this multifaceted damaging reality of illicit drug use in the state and fully conscious of the adverse health, security and socio-economic implications in October 2017, established a Drug and Substance Abuse Reduction Committee (DSARC) saddled with the following mandate:
