Today, May 27th, 2024, on the occasion of Children's Day celebration at Uyo, Akwa Ibom State Governor, Pastor Umo Eno , made a heartfelt commitment to the children of the state, promising to prioritize their education and well-being above all else. With a fatherly love and concern, Governor Eno reiterated his administration's resolve to provide a conducive learning environment, equipped with modern facilities and skilled teachers, to ensure that every child in Akwa Ibom State receives quality education.
Speaking at the event, Governor Eno emphasized that the future of the state and indeed the nation, lies in the hands of the children, and it is the responsibility of the government and parents to nurture and guide them towards achieving their full potential. He echoed the words of Nelson Mandela, "Education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world," and pledged to make education a top priority in his administration's agenda.
Governor Eno's commitment to the children of Akwa Ibom State is not just a political promise, but a moral obligation. He understands that the children of today are the leaders of tomorrow, and it is the duty of the government to provide them with the necessary tools and resources to succeed. He announced plans to complete the Dakkada Skills Acquisition Centre (DASAC), which will provide vocational training and skills development for the children, preparing them for a technologically-driven society.
In addition, Governor Eno reminded the children and parents that education at the primary and secondary levels is free and compulsory in Akwa Ibom State, and that his administration will continue to pay WAEC and NABTEB fees on behalf of the students. This gesture is a testament to the government's dedication to ensuring that every child has access to quality education, regardless of their background or financial situation.
The Governor's words were met with cheers and applause from the children and parents in attendance, who were inspired by his vision for a brighter future. He urged parents and guardians to guide their children away from anti-social behavior and other vices, and to support the government's efforts in building a better future for all.
Governor Eno also announced that his administration will recruit education monitors to ensure strict adherence to the policy of providing quality education, and will equip students with ICT and entrepreneurial skills to compete globally. This move is aimed at producing highly skilled manpower for a technologically-driven society, and ensuring that the children of Akwa Ibom State are well-prepared to succeed in an increasingly competitive world.
As the celebration came to a close, Governor Eno's message resonated in the hearts of all present - that the children of Akwa Ibom State deserve the best possible start in life, and that his administration is committed to making that a reality. With a sense of hope and renewed determination, the children of Akwa Ibom State look forward to a brighter future, knowing that their Governor is dedicated to helping them achieve their dreams.
As George Washington once said, "The education of our youth is a matter of the utmost importance. The future of our country depends on it." Governor Eno's commitment to education is a testament to this philosophy, and his administration's efforts to provide quality education will undoubtedly produce a generation of excellent individuals who will make a positive impact in the world.
In the words of Malala Yousafzai, "One child, one teacher, one book, one pen can change the world." Governor Eno's vision for a brighter future is a call to action, urging everyone to play their part in shaping the next generation of leaders and change-makers. By prioritizing education and providing the necessary resources and support, we can empower the children of Akwa Ibom State to achieve greatness and make a positive impact in the world.
