CHDEC Researchers Shine at 17th International Conference on Child and Adolescent Psychopathology

London, UK — September 10, 2025 – The 17th International Conference on Child and Adolescent Psychopathology (ICCAP2025), held at the University of Roehampton from September 8–10, brought together world-leading experts to advance knowledge in child and adolescent mental health.

Prof. Rosemary Ekechukwu, Director of Counselling and Human Development Centre (CHDEC), led a team of CHDEC students and researchers who presented new findings on child, youth, and family well-being.

“Our participation at ICCAP2025 demonstrates CHDEC’s commitment to excellence in child and family research,” said Prof. Ekechukwu. “It was an inspiring experience for our students and researchers to share their work on an international stage and to learn from global leaders in the field.”

The conference featured contributions from academics, psychologists, counsellors, therapists, teachers, nutritionists, and social workers worldwide, with discussions spanning mental health interventions, family resilience, and cross-cultural perspectives.

A CHDEC student participant noted: “Presenting at such a prestigious platform has motivated me to push further in my research.”

ICCAP2025 highlighted the vital role of collaboration in addressing the challenges facing children and adolescents globally.

Prof. Owunari Georgewill, the Vice-Chancellor of the University of Port Harcourt, recently received Pastor Belemina Obunge, the International Youth Pastor and Special Assistant to Pastor Enoch Adeboye, General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), at his office.
In a social media post, Prof. Georgewill highlighted the university's increasing repute in attracting distinguished postgraduate students. He emphasised that Pastor Obunge is presently undertaking an MSc in Drug Addiction and Rehabilitation at the university's Counselling and Human Development Centre (CHDEC).
Pastor Obunge conveyed his enthusiasm for the initiative, praising its influence and efficacy. He regarded it as a transforming educational experience and anticipates recommending it to an international audience. He commended the hybrid learning concept, which improves accessibility and flexibility for pupils.
The meeting ended with sincere prayers for the university's ongoing growth and success.
