Hey there, friends! Let's talk about our precious peepers and bust some common eye care myths today.

Many of us believe that if we have crystal-clear vision,

we don't need regular eye check-ups. Well, think again!

Having perfect vision doesn't necessarily mean our eyes are in perfect shape.

Here's why you should make a yearly eye check a priority, regardless of how well you can see:

Detecting Silent Problems:
Some eye conditions, like glaucoma, diabetic retinopathy, or age-related macular degeneration, can develop silently without showing any symptoms until they reach an advanced stage.
Regular eye exams help detect these issues early, increasing the chances of successful treatment and preventing permanent vision loss.

Eye Strain and Digital Eye Fatigue:
In this digital age, we spend hours staring at screens—be it smartphones, computers, or tablets.
This constant screen time can strain our eyes and cause discomfort. Regular eye check-ups ensure that your eyes are coping well with the digital demands, and your optometrist can recommend measures to reduce eye strain.

Changes in Vision:
Vision can change over time, and sometimes, these changes are so gradual that we might not even notice them.
Regular eye exams help in updating your glasses or contact lens prescription, ensuring you're always seeing the world with clarity.

Overall Health Indicators: Believe it or not, your eyes can provide valuable insights into your overall health. During an eye exam, eye care professionals can spot signs of systemic conditions like diabetes, high blood pressure, and even certain types of cancer.

Children's Eye Health:
If you have kids, regular eye check-ups are even more crucial. Children may not be able to communicate vision issues effectively, and early detection of vision problems can significantly impact their learning and development.

Preventive Eye Care: Eye exams not only address existing issues but also help in preventing future problems. Your optometrist can offer advice on maintaining good eye health through a balanced diet, protective eyewear, and other preventive measures.

So, folks, let's prioritize our eye health! Remember, an annual eye check is a small investment in your vision's well-being and overall health. Don't let myths or perfect vision deceive you—your eyes deserve the best care possible.

Schedule that eye exam today and keep those beautiful peepers in top-notch condition! 👓🌟

Oh boy, let me tell you about the wild world of sunglasses without UV protection!
Picture this: You're wearing those fancy shades that make you look cooler than an ice cream cone on a sunny day, looking all fly. But guess what? Your eyes are in for a not-so-sweet surprise!

Using sunglasses without UV protection is like putting on a super stylish disguise for your eyeballs, but the sun sees right through your clever ruse. It's like wearing a superhero cape that's just for show – you might look awesome, but you're not protected from those harmful UV rays, which are like tiny sun ninjas trying to sneak past your defense.

UV rays are the villains in this story, and they can be sneaky little troublemakers. When you wear sunglasses without proper UV protection, those rays party hard on your eyeballs. They mess around with your precious eyes, causing potential trouble like:

Sunburned eyes – Yep, you heard it right! Just like your skin can get sunburned, your eyes can too, and it's not a pretty sight. Its called photokeratitis. Dont mind the big words

Cataracts – Imagine tiny sunglasses-hating gremlins trying to cloud your eye's natural lens. That's cataracts for you, and they can mess up your vision big time!

Macular degeneration – This one's like a nosy neighbor peeping into your eye's most sensitive part, messing with your central vision over time.

Eye wrinkles – UV rays can make your eyes squint and strain, leading to unwanted crow's feet that'll make you look like a wise old owl before your time.

So, my friend, don't be fooled by those cheap shady sunglasses that might look super cute but secretly lack the UV protection. It's like wearing a helmet with a hole in it – not exactly doing its job!

When next you are getting those very very affordable nice looking sunglasses, your number one question should be, does it give 100% UV protection? If there is no indication that it does, japa from it like person are japaring from Nigeria.

To protect your eyes, it's essential to wear sunglasses that specifically mention UV protection. Look for labels like "100% UV protection" or "UV400" on the sunglasses to ensure they shield your eyes from harmful rays. By doing this, you can enjoy the benefits of sunglasses without risking damage to your eyes.

Once upon a time, there was a welder named Chukwudi who worked for his oga in a small welding shop in town. Chukwudi is a strong and skilled worker, but he didn't know how to protect his eyes while welding.

One day, while Chukwudi was welding, he didn't wear any eye protection. He thought nothing would happen, but trouble came knocking! The welding spark entered his eyes and it caused him a lot of pain and discomfort

As the spark entered his eyes, Chukwudi realized it was very bad. But he didn't panic because he had heard some information about what to do if a welding arc enters the eyes. He quickly stopped working and followed these steps to protect his eyes:

First, he looked for very clean water flush his eyes.
He held his eyelids open and made sure that the eye where the spark entered was facing downwards.
He made sure that the water or liquid flowed from the inside corner of the eye (near the nose) to the outside corner (near the ear). He let it flow well.

However, Chukwudi also learned about things he should not do if a welding spark enters the eyes:

He shouldn't rub or touch the eye with his hands or cloth, as it could cause more damage.
He shouldn't try to remove any objects he sees in the eye, as it could worsen the situation.

Chukwudi, being a wise man, after rinsing the eyes thoroughly with clean water. His eye started feeling better gradually, but he knew he still needed to seek medical attention. So, he rushed to see Dr Ada to have the doctor examine it thoroughly.
Dr Ada checked his eye and praised him for seeking help early enough and not waiting to come to the clinic or visiting a pharmacy first. He got his medications and left a few days after taking the medication as prescribed by Dr Ada. He felt completely better and resumed work.

From that day forward, Chukwudi
learned his lesson. He always wore proper eye protection like a welding helmet or goggles whenever he was welding. He didn't want anything bad to happen to his eyes again.

So, my friends, let's learn from Chukwudi's story. It's better to prevent eye damage by using the correct eye protection than to suffer the pain that comes with a welding arc entering the eyes. Welding can be a good job, but we must prioritize safety.

I am Dr Ada.
Preventing is better than cure. He who has ears let him hear.

Long post alert. Just manage read am you will enjoy it.

Ehe, make I tell you how to look after your glasses for inside pidgin English,
so you go fit understand well-well. No wahala, make we begin:

When you dey clean your glasses, make sure say you get that one small cloth wey them give you for clinic. No use cloth wey dey dirty like village market square or some people go use their shirt just do fiam fiam. If you use ordinary cloth you go just dey scratch the lenses of your glasses instead of cleaning am. Na wahala be that!

"Hold your glasses well-well !" - When you dey remove your glasses or wear them back, hold am with two hands for the hands them well-well. No be play-play. If you no hold am well, e fit fall and break, and e fit go one side. na money wahala for you.

"No carry your glasses go fight!" - Abeg, no carry your glasses go fight, because na your eyes e dey help protect. If you carry am go fight, them fit wan blow you. You douge e fit fall down break and you go suffer wahala for your eye. Leave fight for wrestlers, no be for glasses wearers.

"No put your glasses for pocket like phone! Or hang am for your shirt or neck- Make sure say you no put your glasses for pocket like say na phone o. If you put am for pocket, e fit scratch or bend. E no go funny when you wear am come see say your glasses dey look like "bend bend." Keep am for safe place inside the case.

If your glasses dey dirty with all those green green yama yama them you go need clean am with water.
Find small soap and water. No go pour am for your eye, oh!
Wet your glasses for the soap water, then use your hand wey clean, like say you dey wash plate, rub am small. Make sure you no scratch the lens, o!
After you don rub the glasses well well, use clean water wash am. You fit use the tap water .
Just make sure say all the soap don commot.

Abeg, no use your glasses as a hairband. E fit stretch dem and na wahala go dey. If you wan pack your hair, use rubber band or scarf instead. Keep your glasses on your face or inside case, no other place.

if you dey wear glasses, no go sleep with am. E fit break or bend. E fit even fall for ground and scatter. So, make you remove your glasses before you sleep. Put am for one safe place, where dem no go fall or squash am.

Watch out for those busybody pikin them ! Dem fit find your glasses fascinating, so make sure you hide them if dem dey around. No allow them pull am commot for your face. No let dem play "superhero" wit' your glasses o, because if e break. well me i dey find money sha. I go give you new one for shikini money.

Finally, make sure you get a proper case for your glasses. Dem deserve proper accommodation when you no dey use dem. No just throw dem for random places, or dem go waka enter wahala. Find di right case and put 'em inside, keep 'em safe and sound.

So, my dear friends , follow these tips and your glasses go dey shine like bright moon for sky and them go last you for long time. No forget say na your "window to di world" dem be, so treat dem right. Enjoy good vision with some Pidgin swag!
