Medical social work practice -MSWP

Hello friends and clients, is my pleasure knowing that the beauty and actual essence of knowledge is to practice.
Medical social work is a branch of social work specially designed and practiced to alleviate social problems associated with the patients illness.
Some roles of medical social workers are:
* financial assistance: this is done for medical bills of indigent patients. The finance could be the medical social workers compassionate donations, it could be from the medical community(hospital), N.G.O's donations or governmental social welfare package for indigence.
* Repatriation: MSWs repatriates patients who might have lost their siblings, friends and relatives contact.
*Follow up: this is a vital role where MSWs make home visit to their clients (patients) to check on them periodically to prevent relapse.
* Therapeutic counseling: MSWs offers counseling services in regard to their clients (patients) health status. It involves giving of information, guidelines, and advice needed for the clients to cope with their present conditions and the way out to better condition.

I'm s social worker by profession, more focused on medical social work: A clinical based practice that investigates the diagnosis of clinicians with a view of picking up the psychological and psychosocial problems associated with the patients illness with a view of helping them.
Is proven that 60% of what and while patients go to hospital and have a sick bed is as a result of psychological problems unattended to. Therefore, medical social work is designed for all patients on sick bed including those in Out Patients department (OPD).
Any illness that drives away your happiness, unstable your emotion, distort your cognitive and reflects on your mannerism or behavior has developed psychological and psychosocial malfunctions.
The rehabilitative measures are not medications, but psychological and psychosocial therapies.

Advocacy Is One Of The Priorities Of Social Workers For The Lnss Priviledged To Ensure Justice, Equity & Equality: Is Bold Predominant That Nigeria Has Social Policies, But No Proper Implementation Or Enforcement: And I Am Assuming, That's The Main Factor Why We Have Numerous Destitutes( Both Refugees & Deportees), Mentally Illed, Especially In Metropolies Of Nigeria. When Social Pocicies Are Neglected In A Society, There Will Be State Of Anomie (normlessness), That's Why Felony (capital Offence) Delinquecy, Addiction Of Drugs, Discrimination & Prejudice Etc Are Inevitable. Therefore Social Policy And Its Implementation Is Critical To Bring About Social Development In Nigeria At Large.

wow! Is been a long time ago I kept this page boring, however, I apologize.
I must say with an intention that medical social workers is are indispensable key professionals among the health, whose concern is the psychological and psychosocial functioning of all patients.
It obvious that psychosocial disorders are not treated by drugs, rather through therapeutic counseling that aims to restructure the cognitive and behavior modification of the patients.

ACTIVITIES OF SOCIAL WORK INVOLVES:
Effective counseling/ psychotherapy.
Rehabilitation of the handicaps, destitutes, re****ed, vulnerables, fosters, juveniles/deliquents etc.
Social welfare.
Education.
Advocacy.
Subsidization of houses, food drugs etc.
Probation and parole officers in correctional Care centers(court and the prisons). ETC.
HAVING JUXTAPOSED, SOCIAL WORKERS HAS THE MAN POWER, THE COGNATES, OR COMPETENCIES TO ACTUALIZE THE GOALS OF THE PROFESSION.
