OOUTH turned out in force for Prof. Chief Olajide O. A. Ajayi's 90th birthday celebration, with the Chief Medical Director, Dr. Mrs. Oluwabunmi Fatungase, leading the charge. She lauded Prof. Ajayi as "a trailblazer in surgery and academia", citing his lasting impact on Nigerian healthcare and education, as well as his exemplary leadership and mentorship.

Other notable OOUTH affiliates in attendance included Prof. Aderibigbe M. O. Shonubi, a former Chief Medical Director (OOUTH).

Prof. Ajayi served in OOUTH as CMD from 1987-1990 and Chairman of the Board of Management from 2001-2003.

On February 11, 2026, Dr. Mrs. Oluwabunmi Fatungase, the Chief Medical Director (CMD) of Olabisi Onabanjo University Teaching Hospital (OOUTH), made a significant visit to the Gateway International Airport Clinic in Iperu, Ogun State which is being managed by OOUTH.

During her visit, Dr. Fatungase took time to interact with the clinic staff, acknowledging their hard work and dedication to providing quality healthcare services to travellers and airport personnel. She also extended her appreciation to the firefighters working closely with the clinic staff, commending their bravery and commitment to ensuring safety at the airport.

The visit was aimed at boosting the morale of the staff and fostering a sense of unity between the OOUTH management and the clinic team. Dr. Fatungase's gesture was well-received by the staff, who expressed gratitude for her leadership and support.

On Wednesday, 4th February, 2026, OOUTH hosted a specialized medical equipment training on Patient Monitoring and Life Support Systems (PLMS), facilitated by Healthshare Nigeria. The session was delivered by Dr. Gerard Nkengurutse and coordinated by Mr. Elum Moses (Healthshare Nigeria), Engineer Omale Benedict (Healthshare Technical Team), and Mr. Kris (Mindray Middle East & Africa).

The training equipped healthcare professionals from the Anaesthetic and Perioperative Intensive Care Unit with practical knowledge and hands-on insights into effective patient monitoring and life support technologies. Attendees included Dr. Oluwaseun Adeko (Chairman, Medical Advisory Committee), Dr. Ibukun Ogundele (Deputy Chairman, Medical Advisory Committee) and other stakeholders.

The training reinforced OOUTH's commitment to quality, safe, and patient-centered care. Continuous capacity building remains a priority towards improving healthcare outcomes and service delivery.
