The Association of Ijebu Igbo Descendants (AIID) is currently hosting a successful Five days of free medical and surgical mission focusing on free medical consultation, special Hernia repair with mesh and several eye surgeries by experts.

The centres in use for the mission are the OOUTH annex, Obada, Ijebu Igbo; General Hospital, Oke Ife, Ijebu Igbo; and St Joseph's Catholic Hospital, Oke Agbo, Ijebu Igbo.

Benefiting from the expertise of local and international AIID medical practitioners, supported by friends, colleagues, and skilled personnel from OOUTH, this humanitarian initiative aims to improve healthcare access and outcomes for Ijebu Igbo descendants and the wider community.

The OOUTH family, led by the Chief Medical Director, Dr. Mrs. Oluwabunmi Fatungase, came together to support the Chairman of the OOUTH Board of Management, Otunba Dr. Adekunle Olubola Hassan at the launching of his visionary project, Kunle Hassan Eye Foundation Academy (KHEFA) at Obafemi Awolowo College of Health Sciences (OACHS), Olabisi Onabanjo University (OOU), Sagamu Campus.

Notable attendees, including Royal Highnesses, family, and friends, gathered to endorse Dr. Hassan's philanthropic efforts and passion for educating medical professionals, especially in ophthalmology.

The academy is backed by a ₦1billion commitment from Eye Foundation Hospital, owned by Dr. Hassan.

Dr. Mrs. Oluwabunmi Fatungase, Chief Medical Director of Olabisi Onabanjo University Teaching Hospital (OOUTH), expressed heartfelt gratitude to the trio, praising their invaluable contributions to academia, mentorship, and commitment to excellence.

Read below the text of goodwill message delivered by Dr. Mrs. Oluwabunmi Fatungase, Chief Medical Director (OOUTH), at the retirement event of Professors Adebiyi Olowu and Tamramat Iyabo Runsewe-Abiodun on Wednesday, 22nd October, 2025.

"It is with immense joy and deep appreciation that we celebrate these esteemed Professors, who are distinguished icons of Paediatrics, exemplary teachers, mentors, and leaders — on the occasion of their well-deserved retirement at the remarkable age of seventy.

Their decades of selfless service, unwavering dedication to child health, and immense contributions to medical education have left indelible marks not only within the walls of this institution but across the broader medical community. Through your tireless work, you have shaped countless lives — nurturing generations of paediatricians, other group of specialists and inspiring excellence, compassion, and integrity in all who have passed through your tutelage.

On Saturday, October 18, 2025, the Rotary District Governor Lanre Adedoyin, along with Presidents from various Rotary Clubs within District 9112, paid a courtesy visit to the management of OOUTH. The team was received by Dr. Seun Adeeko, CMAC, on behalf of the Chief Medical Director, Dr. Mrs. Oluwabunmi Fatungase.

The DG expressed delight in visiting OOUTH, a collaborative institution with Rotary, and was with high hope to see more OOUTH staff join the Rotary Club in the near future. Dr. Tayo Lawal, Special Adviser to the Ogun State Governor on Health, also emphasized the need for OOUTH staff to partner with Rotary to benefit humanity.

Dr. Adeeko commended Rotary's efforts in eradicating polio and appreciated their projects, including the Rotary Pros Cancer Center in the hospital. He acknowledged the impact of Rotary's efforts and expressed gratitude for their partnership.

The Anaesthesia Department of Olabisi Onabanjo University Teaching Hospital, Sagamu, joined the global community in celebrating World Anaesthesia Day 2025, themed "Anaesthesiology in Health Emergencies".

Led by the department's head, Dr. Mrs. Kemi Shotayo, the team conducted a sensitization outreach at Awolowo Market, Sagamu, and among members of the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW).

The Association of Clinical and Academic Physiotherapists of Nigeria (ACAPN) held its 9th International Scientific Conference and Annual General Meeting, themed "Achieving Sustainable Development Goals in Medical Rehabilitation" on Wednesday, 15th October, 2025 at Olabisi Onabanjo University Teaching Hospital (OOUTH), Sagamu.

In the keynote address, Mr. Tokunbo Talabi, encouraged physiotherapists to think beyond traditional clinical roles and explore entrepreneurial opportunities to drive economic sustainability. This call to action emphasized the need for physiotherapists to be innovative and adaptable in their practice.

Dr. Mrs. Oluwabunmi Fatungase, Chief Medical Director of Olabisi Onabanjo University Teaching Hospital (OOUTH) and Chief Host of the event, represented the Chairman, Asiwaju S.K. Onafowokan. In her speech, she highlighted the importance of interprofessional collaboration among healthcare professionals to deliver comprehensive and holistic patient care.
