THE BEGINNING
School of Medical Laboratory Technology is a component of Baptist Medical Centre, Ajegunle, Saki which belongs to The Nigerian Baptist Convention
The School was established in August 2006 with the aim of tackling the dearth middle level Medical Laboratory Science Personnel prevailing in the State, most especially Oke-Ogun Area of the State
The first accreditation team visited in September 2006, and the School was awarded a provisional accreditation and commenced in October 2006
PHILOSOPHY AND AIM OF THE SCHOOL
The broad philosophy of the school is to produce middle level personnel who will work under the supervision of registered Medical Laboratory Scientists, satisfy internationally recognized standards and could undertake further Professional training and studies.
The aim of the school is to effectively address the rainy needs of our society in the area of Medical Laboratory services within the limit of Medical Laboratory Technician Practice
MEMORANDUM OF UNDERSTANDING
The school has memorandum of understanding with Bowen University Teaching Hospital, Ogbomoso, Oyo State, Nigeria for external postings

The Departmental Library in the School Well-furnished hostel accommodation is compulsory for all students

The institution has kitchen for the students in addition to catering services

One 100KVA and the three 250KVA generators for regular power supply

WEEKLY INSTITUTIONAL ACTIVITIES
MORTALITY REVIEW SESSIONS (MONDAY 8AM – 9.30AM)
Every Mondays, our institution conducts Mortality review session involving active participation from staff and students alike. This session offers valuable learning opportunities by allowing students to analyse clinical cases with various laboratory investigations, thus, gaining insight into patients care outcomes
CLINICAL CONFERENCES (Wednesdays 8am – 9.30am)
Wednesdays always highlight the institution clinical conference which attracts a diverse group of health care practitioners. This fosters cross-fertilization of knowledge amongst all health care professionals in the centre and addresses current trends and advancement in clinical sciences and Medical Laboratory diagnosis
SUCCESS STORIES OF THE SCHOOL
Steady pass rate of an average of 80% in the National Medical Laboratory Technician Council Examination as well as 100% in some instances since 2010
Several graduates from our institution have garnered significant success at national and international levels.
They have excelled in the field of Medical Laboratory Sciences demonstrating exceptional quality education, training, and professionalism as received at our institution.
A considerable number of our graduates have pursued higher education via the direct entry route at various universities across the country.
Among them, a notable percentage have graduated with first class honours.
This achievement is a testament to the effectiveness of teaching and learning in our institution
ACCREDITATION STATUS
The school was visited by The Medical Laboratory Science Council of Nigeria accreditation team between 27th to 30th August, 2023 for the purpose of re-accreditation.
The school was granted full accreditation by the Medical Laboratory Science Council of Nigeria with sixty (60) students’ quota.
