I WRITE TO RESPECTFUL DRAW THE ATTENTION OF THE RELEVANT AUTHORITIES TO A SERIOUS AND RECURRING PUBLIC SAFETY CONCERNS OBSERVED ALONG THE ROAD LEADING TO USMAN DANFODIYO UNIVERSITY, SOKOTO.
On a daily basis, trucks transporting sand ply this route without properly covering their loads. As a result, sand is frequently blown into the air and into the eyes of road users, particularly motorcycle riders, thereby severely obstructing their vision. This hazardous situation has led to frequent accidents along this road.
Notably, as of today, 18th/12/2025 I personally witnessed an accident that occurred as a direct result of sand entering a motorcyclist’s eyes from an uncovered sand-carrying truck. This incident further underscores the urgent nature of the problem and the immediate risk it poses to students, staff, pedestrians, motorcyclists, and other motorists who use this road daily.
In view of the foregoing, I respectfully urge the appropriate authorities to take immediate action by enforcing regulations that mandate the proper covering of sand and other loose materials during transportation. Regular monitoring of this route and strict penalties for non-compliance will significantly reduce accidents and safeguard lives.
I trust that this matter will be treated with the urgency it deserves, in the interest of public safety and the well-being of the general public.
Please share until it reaches the Authorities
