Sokoto state government has re-assured of its unwavering commitment towards eradicating polio virus in the state.

Special Adviser on Primary Healthcare Development Agency Dr Muhammad Bello Marnona gave the assurance when he led a powerful team from the Agency to monitor the ongoing polio immunization in Baichi and Bingaji wards of Yabo local government area.

Dr Bello Marnona said they were in Yabo local government to monitor the ongoing immunisation against polio in the area so as to
heed the directive of the state governor Dr Ahmed Aliyu Sokoto by ensuring one hundred percent coverage of all eligible children during the exercise.

Dr Marnona expressed
satisfaction with the commitment of both the local government council, Traditional, Religious and Community leaders and all other stakeholders for their dedication which led to the success recorded so far in the exercise.

On the cases of rejection and non compliance the Special Adviser said a Committe were constituted comprising all Stakeholders on how best to overcome the negative trend.

Speaking the Executive Secretary of the Agency Dr Larai Aliyu Tambuwal stressed the need for collective effort to ensure zero polio virus in the state by ensuring no child were left behind in the exercise.

According to her the statistics has shown that out of one hundred and forty five countries across the globe only Afghanistan, Pakistan and Nigeria are currently battling with the disease hence the need for all hands to be undeck to fight against the devastating disease for a healthy society.

Speaking the Chairman of the area ,Muhammad Abubakar Bazar represented by his vice Alhaji Usman Na Allah Yabo revealed that on its part the local government council has taking adequate measures to address problems of non compliance as well as rejection.

In their separate comments Secretary of the area Alhaji Bello Muhammad Wurno and APC Chairman of the area Bello Danmaliki Yabo requested the Agency to provide enough watchmen in all PHCs in the area so as to address the problem of vandalization and stealing of hospital facilities.

Later the SA and his entourage took time to interact with Dangaran Bingaji Alhaji Sani Bello at Bingaji Ward.

Briefing the SA, Alhaji Sani Bello said to ensure wider coverage in the exercise each vaccinators team were attached with village head to further enlightened parents where necessary.

The Special Adviser was accompanied by some Directors of the Agency.

Representative of the State Commissioner of Health and Permanent Secretary of the ministry Alhaji Ibrahim Haliru Dingyadi, mni stated that at the Flag off of Integrated MNCHW, International day for the midwives, World Fistula day and Safe motherhood commemoration.

He said all necessary arrangements have been completed for their welfare while working in such areas..

The Management of College of Nursing Sciences, Sokoto have been challenged to maintain accurate record of register of its students attending classes.

State Commissioner for Health Dr Faruk Umar Abubakar Wurno threw the challenge during a meeting with the Management of the College held in the conference room of the College.

Dr Faruk Umar Abubakar Wurno said it is only through that,actual regular students can be identified.

The Commissioner charged parents to always ensure that their children are attending classes.

He also stressed the need for them to imbibe the habit of coming to the college to asses the performance of their children.

Dr Faruk Wurno pledged his readiness to ensure that the College is producing qualified Nurses and Midwives.

Turning to the meeting, the Commissioner said it was conducted following series of complaints received by the ministry and the low performances of students during the last examination of the College.

Dr Faruk Wurno said the meeting was aimed at discussing ways of improving Academic performance.

In his comment,the Provost of the College Abubakar Alhaji Tambuwal assured of the Management commitment to step up effort to address all the observations raised for further development of the College.

The meeting was attended by the Permanent Secretary of the ministry Alhaji Ibrahim Haliru Dingyadi, mni and Directors of the ministry.

A Steering Committee for Integrate Project has been inaugurated in the state.

Speaking at the occasion, which was held at the the conference hall of Sokoto Guest Inn Chairman of the Committee and State Commissioner of Health Dr Faruk Umar Abubakar Wurno pledged the Committee's readiness to work assiduously to meet the targeted goal.

State Ministry of Health will collaborate with all its Parastatals to ensure attainment of all targeted goals in the Health Sector.

Commissioner of the Ministry Dr Faruk Umar Abubakar Wurno stated that today when he visited the State Hospital Services Management Board.

This he said was in line with Governor Ahmed Aliyu's 9 points Smart Innovative Agenda.

The Commissioner also directed the Executive Director of the Board to ensure that all retired personnel still occupying quarters within the General Hospitals across the State to vacate and be allocated to those in active service.

He also ordered that all personnel who are truants be exposed in all the General Hospitals.

Dr Faruk Umar assured the management of the Board of the ministry's full support and cooperation.

In his response, the Executive Director of the Board Dr Bello Abubakar Attahiru briefed the Commissioner on the successes and challenges of the Board.

The Executive Director solicited the support and cooperation of the Commissioner and assured him of their full support for the realisation of the set objectives.

The Commissioner was accompanied on the visit by the Special Adviser SOCHEMA Alhaji Ahmad Rufa'i Abubakar and all Directors of the Ministry.

Sokoto state government says it will soon digitalize the Orthopedic hospital Wamakko.

State Commissioner for Health Dr Faruku Umar Abubakar wurno disclosed this when he led Directors of the Ministry on an inspection visit to the Hospital today.

Dr Faruku Abubakar said this was to ensure that all patients visiting the hospital are being captured as he observed during his recent visit no record is available concerning the activities of the hospital.

The Commissioner also issued one month ultimatum to the Management of the hospital to put in to use the renovated Amenity and Main theater room of the hospital which has been abandoned for over ten years.

He also directed the Director Medical Services of the Ministry to send Bio-engineers of the Ministry to take inventory of all the available equipment of the hospital.

Dr Faruku Wurno also charged the CMD of the hospital to ensure that staff are being punctual to duty so as to justify their Salaries.

According to him the Ministry would not condone laxity and absconding from duty hence the need for attitudinal change.

The Commissioner assured of the state government's readiness to improve the services of the hospital inview of its significant not only to people of Sokoto, but to other neighboring states.

In his address,the Chief Medical Director of the Hospital Dr Abdulkadir Jelani Mu'azu promised to look into all the observations made by the Commissioner.

The CMD also used the visit to mention some of the successes recorded by the hospital within short period of his stewardship.

The State Commissioner of Health Dr Faruk Umar Abubakar Wurno has expressed dismay at the way some local Berbers are performing insicion on the stomach of patients of metal poison as a means of treatment.

He expressed his feeling while presenting Drugs provided by the State Government for the treatment of the patients receiving treatment at General Hospital Tureta.

Dr Faruk Umar Abubakar therefore directed the stoppage of the practice and instead rush the victims who show sign of the disease to Hospitals.

The commissioner who was represented by the Executive Director State Hospital Services Management Board Dr Bello Abubakar Attahiru said the Drugs would be provided in all the General Hospitals with patients of metal poison.

Receiving the Drugs, the Chairman of Tureta local government council Alhaji Aliyu Abubakar Tureta said the provision of the drugs came at a right time.

Alhaji Aliyu Tureta assured that the council would ensure that the drugs are utilise for the purpose meant for.

He explained the effort put in place by the council at the initial stage.
