2. Fruit Juice

Drinking fruit juice and consuming too much sugar will wreck your body's metabolism.

3. Alcohol

Alcohol relaxes the body, but unfortunately, it also relaxes the oesophagal sphincter. This can lead to acid reflux or heartburn. Too much alcohol irritates the digestive tract.

Foods to Avoid After 8 PM for a Better Night’s Sleep

Late dinners are sometimes unavoidable, but what you eat after 8 PM can make or break your night—and even your health goals. Here are some foods to steer clear of late at night:

1. Spicy Foods
Think hot wings, chilli, or spicy curry. These can cause indigestion, and heartburn, and disrupt your sleep by raising your body temperature.

2. Heavy, Fatty Meals

Greasy burgers, deep-fried snacks, or cheesy pasta take longer to digest, keeping your body working instead of winding down for rest.

3. Sugary Treats

Cookies, cakes, and candy spike your blood sugar and energy levels—just when you need them to calm down. Plus, sugar can mess with your sleep cycle.

4. Caffeinated Drinks

Obvious, but worth repeating. Coffee, energy drinks, and even some teas or chocolate can sneak in caffeine that disrupts sleep
5. Red Meat

While protein is good, red meat is harder to digest and can keep your body stimulated when it should be slowing down.

6. Ice Cream & Dairy

Dairy can be tough on digestion for some people and may lead to bloating or discomfort just before bed.
✅ Instead, opt for:

A small bowl of oatmeal

Herbal tea (like chamomile)

Banana with almond butter

Greek yoghurt (if dairy is okay for you)

A handful of nuts

Your sleep is as important as your meals—eat smart, and sleep better!

Understanding Lactose Tolerance: A Quick Guide

Lactose tolerance refers to your body’s ability to digest lactose, the natural sugar found in milk and dairy products. This is made possible by an enzyme called lactase, which breaks down lactose in your digestive system.

Lactose intolerance happens when your body doesn’t produce enough lactase, leading to symptoms like bloating, gas, stomach cramps, or diarrhoea after consuming dairy.

The good news? It’s manageable once you know what to look out for!

🚫 Foods to Limit or Avoid if You're Lactose Intolerant:

🥛 Milk (cow’s, goat’s, and sometimes sheep’s)

🧀 Soft cheeses like cream cheese, ricotta, and mozzarella

🍦 Ice cream and frozen yogurt

🍰 Creamy desserts (custards, puddings, milk-based cakes)

☕ Creamers and milk-based beverages

🥣 Some cereals and baked goods (especially if milk or whey is listed)

💊 Certain medications (surprisingly, some pills contain lactose as a filler)

Friendly Alternatives:

Lactose-free milk or plant-based milk (almond, soy, oat, coconut)

Hard cheeses like cheddar or parmesan (lower in lactose)

Lactose-free yoghurts those with live active cultures

Enzyme supplements to help digest lactose when you need a treat!

Learning what your body needs is empowering. With a few swaps and some label-reading, you can still enjoy delicious meals without the discomfort. 💛

Let your body be your guide—and don’t hesitate to treat yourself to a dairy-free scoop of ice cream now and then
