The rear treasures of our current time are not the oil wells in Bayelsa or the ancient sculptures of Benin, they are also not the coal mines of Jos or the tall architectural beauties of Lagos and Abuja.

The rear treasures of our current time are men who set out on a goal and go down the lane to achieve it, men with strong will and unreserved desire for excellence and commitment. Men like Dr. Chimezie Okwuonu.

Sir, your desire for excellence is one that is second to none. You have charged our minds and inspired our conscience to consciously be strong willed and determined in our quest for success.

Though your chastisement maybe harsh to us, over time, I believe that we will all come to this knowledge "the one whom we think is our oppressor, is thus our helper"

From all of us at BEATITUDES ABA AND UMUAHIA…

HAPPY BIRTHDAY SIR
MAY THE GRACE TO CONQUER MORE GROUNDS BE MADE AVAILABLE ON EVERY SIDE.

Most people with kidney failure also get heart disease. This happens because most people with kidney failure have other health problems, including high BLOOD PRESSURE, DIABETES, ANEMIA, CHOLESTEROL PROBLEMS and MINERAL AND BONE problems.

These conditions force the heart to work harder, it begins to thicken and enlarge. Over time, heart problems can develop, including heart attack, heart rhythm problems, heart failure, stroke or early death.

You can help reduce your risk of heart and blood vessel problems or keep them from getting worse by controlling your blood pressure, diabetes, anemia, cholesterol and mineral and bone problems.

Most cases of Chronic Kidney Disease cannot be cured but its progression can be slowed down so you never develop end-stage kidney failure. So for the good health of our kidneys, we need to put in place protective measures.
Such measures include:
- Eat Right
- Having regular medical evaluation
- Reducing salt intake
- Avoid excessive alcohol
- Exercise regularly
- Maintaining an ideal body weight amid weight gain/weight

Keep in mind that kidney failure does not happen overnight, most of its problems may have started long before your kidneys failed. Therefore, it is important to ALWAYS OR ONCE IN 3 MONTHS visit a kidney care center and have the following checked or examined...

Your blood pressure
Kidney function test
Sugar test
Urine test

Keeping all these in check will reduce your risk of Kidney failure.

You have two kidneys. Each is about the size of your fist and they are on both sides of your spine at the bottom of your rib cage. When your body uses the food you eat and the liquids you drink, there are waste products that your kidneys filter out as urine.

when your kidneys are healthy, they keep your whole system in balance. They help your make red blood cells. They also release hormones that help regulate blood pressure and keep your bones healthy and strong. But when your kidneys fail, it's a different story.

Waste products and fluids build up in your body, you may feel weak or tired, you may feel sick in your stomach, you may lose your appetite, feel irritable. And you'll need dialysis treatment or a kidney transplant to stay alive.

So it is always important to keep your blood pressure in check and also run a kidney function test.
