The Quiet Joy Behind the Mask 😷

Today, I walked into the operating room 8 times.
8 patients trusted me with their lives.
8 families waited with hope and prayers.

And now… all 8 are resting peacefully in their recovery rooms.

This is the hidden reward of being an anesthetist. It’s not just about “putting people to sleep” ….it’s about guarding their life in its most vulnerable moment and making sure they wake up safely to see their loved ones again.

Healthcare is not always glamorous, but moments like this remind me why I chose this path.

To my colleagues in the OR, recovery room, and ICU … what’s your most fulfilling moment on the job?

How to Reduce the Risk of Amputation.

Control chronic illnesses like diabetes & hypertension…uncontrolled diabetes is a leading cause of non-healing wounds.

Treat infections early..don’t ignore wounds that look “minor” but aren’t healing.

Take injuries seriously…especially deep cuts, burns, or crush injuries.

Stop smoking…it damages bl000d vessels & slows healing.

Seek medical help immediately if you notice:

Cold, pale, or blackening skin on toes or fingers
Numbness or severe pain.
A wound that smells bad or oozes pus.

Remember: the earlier we act, the higher the chance of saving BOTH the limb and the life.

As anesthetists, we are there in the OR to give hope when all else fails…but prevention starts outside the operating room.

Did you know uncontrolled diabetes is one of the top causes of amputation?
What other health habits do you think people should take seriously to avoid such situations?

When saving a life means letting go of a limb…

This is the reality we face in the operating room. Sometimes, amputation isn’t just a surgical decision… it’s the only chance to save a patient’s life from spreading infection, trauma complications, or gangrene.

As anesthetists, we don’t just put patients to sleep; we walk with them through their fear, pain, and uncertainty, ensuring they wake up to a second chance at life.

This image is a reminder that healthcare is not always pretty, but it is always about HOPE.

Would you rather lose a limb or lose a life?

A NURSE IN SOUTH AFRICA allegedly USE HER N!PPLE TO BRING BACK A PATIENT IN ICU.

On the 16th of july 2025 a nurse from Mpumalanga South Africa working in the ICU department where patients are not responsive at all has found a way to to make patients wake up from a coma. She said she discovered this while she was working night shift and alone with one patient.

She placed her ni**le inside the mouth of a male patient and the patient who was in a coma for 4 months woke up licking their lips. She did it to another patient just to prove her theory and the other patient woke up saying "Ngiphe futhi mama" after he woke up 8 months later from coma.

Wits University looked into her night shift doings and found out that the breast have nerve endings that could trigger the brain to come back to life and actually wake up patients from coma.

Nurse Nomsa Mgilane encourages all female nurses to practice this and save as many lives as possible.

Another ground breaking scientific discovery from South Africa.

This early morning, I woke my hubby up to wish him a Happy Birthday before heading to work… and guess what he said?

He looked at me, smiled, and said, “Just give me dog meat.” 🐕

Now I’m here wondering, is it the birthday wish that entered his head or the dog meat craving? 🤔

Either way, Happy Birthday to the love of my life, my Diamond hubby! You deserve all the love, laughter, and yes… maybe even dog meat today. 😂❤️
