♻️AKSPHCDA Guide♻️
Steps to Breastfeed Successfully📍
Breastfeeding is a beautiful way to nourish and bond with your baby🤱
Here’s a simple guide from the Akwa Ibom State Primary Health Care Development Agency (AKSPHCDA) to help mothers breastfeed with confidence:
1️⃣Get Comfortable: Find a quiet, cozy spot. Sit or lie down in a position that supports your back and arms. Use pillows if needed!
2️⃣Position Your Baby: Hold your baby close, tummy to tummy, with their head and body in a straight line. Support their neck and shoulders, but let their head tilt back slightly to open their mouth wide.
3️⃣Encourage a Good Latch: Bring your baby to your breast, not the other way around. Wait for a wide-open mouth (like a yawn), then guide your ni**le in. A good latch means baby’s lips cover most of the ar**la, not just the ni**le.
4️⃣Check the Latch: Baby’s chin should touch your breast, and their nose should be clear to breathe. If it hurts, gently break the suction with your finger and try again.
5️⃣Feed on Demand: Breastfeed whenever your baby shows hunger cues (rooting, sucking hands, or fussing). Aim for 8-12 feeds in 24 hours, especially in the early weeks.
6️⃣Switch Sides: Let your baby feed on one breast until they slow down or stop, then offer the other. Alternate to keep your milk supply balanced.
7️⃣Burp Your Baby: After feeding, gently pat or rub your baby’s back to release any trapped air.
8️⃣Stay Hydrated & Relaxed: Drink water, eat nutritious meals, and rest when you can. A relaxed mom helps milk flow.
🏮Pro Tip: If you face challenges like pain or low milk supply, reach out to a trained health worker at your nearest AKSPHCDA health center for support.
You’re not alone.
Let’s celebrate the power of breastfeeding for healthy babies and happy moms!
