ADAPTATION PERIOD WITH YOUR NEW PAIR OF GLASSES.

This is a period your eyes and brain are working together to get used to the new images presented to them.

During this period, you can experience some discomfort like headache, mild eye ache, objects appearing bigger in size etc.

Often times, first time wearer of glasses or people who has significant changes in their prescription complain the most.

This tends to be a huge challenge to some individuals. However, it wears off within 2- 3 weeks.

To overcome this easily, I advice you gradually increase the wearing time of your glasses daily till your brain and eyes are comfortable with full time wear. Let's say, you wear it today for 2 hours, tomorrow you extend to 3 hours and it goes like that. Also during the adaptation period, do not go back and forth to your old glasses.

**HOW TO LOOK AFTER YOUR GLASSES*

While smears, smudges and accidents are sometimes inevitable, there are a few things you can do to make sure your glasses remain in good condition for as long as possible

*Handling your glasses*

When handling your glasses, always hold them by the frames using both hands. When putting them away, place them upside down with the bridge at the bottom, and try to avoid dropping them on the lenses. This can reduce the risk of scratching your lenses and keeps more top-heavy frames from falling over.

*Storing your glasses*

Always store your glasses in their case to keep them protected from dust, dirt and damage. Avoid leaving or storing them in places where they might get hot — such as near a heater, or in a hot car — as this can warp your lenses, or cause any special coatings to peel off.

*Cleaning your glasses regularly

Clean your lenses with a lens cleaner and wipe with a micro fibre lens cloth. Microfibre lens cloths are the best thing to use to clean your glasses, as they can dry effectively and trap oils, which reduces smudges and smears. You’ll usually get a lens cloth with your glasses when you buy them — just make sure you give the cloth a wash once in a while to remove any oil or dirt collected over time

Our lens cleaners are specially formulated to prolong the life of your lenses and keep them in the best condition for as long as possible.

Do you have a high refractive error and your spectacle is a very thick one? You can discuss with your optometrist for an ultra thin lenses. It demands an additional charge but believe me, it definitely worth the cost.

What challenges do you have with your glasses, let's discuss.

INFLAMMATION OF THE LACRIMAL GLAND

The Lacrimal Gland is located on the top corners of our eyelids. From time to time, this gland can get inflamed, red, swollen, and tender. This condition is referred to as DACRYOADENITIS, and it is usually caused by a viral infection.

The application of eye-presses may be all that is needed to treat Dacryoadenitis. Most patients will fully recover from dacryoadenitis. There is no real literature about the best frequency of heat application, but in general, eye-presses may be applied every 3-4 hours until symptoms improve or resolve.
