Things you can do this Christmas.

👉General eye check-up for every member of the family. There is no better time to get a routine comprehensive eye check for every one now that they are home and complete. Better to spend a penny on routine eye check than to spend pounds on severe eye damage that could occur.(Prevention is better than cure).

👉 Organize eye screening for your community. What better way can you give back to the society than to offer the gift of sight; it is way more precious than hampers .

👉 Organize enlightenment campaigns. Join in the fight against preventable blindness by employing the best heads and hands around to teach members of the community, home based and those returning abroad on better ways to handle their eyes.

👉Donate glasses, contact lenses, low vision aids/materials and drugs to the less privileged. A chance to see better will be more appreciated.

👉Refer your friends and loved ones to Varvic Integrated Eye Clinic, 39,Kevin Lane off Aka Road or off Udo Umana Street,Uyo Akwa Ibom State.
.. wishing you the best of the season.
Merry Christmas and a prosperous Happy New year in advance. Please celebrate responsibly.
Thanks

Magt.

2020 WORLD SIGHT DAY-HOPE IN SIGHT: YOUR LIFE’S HOPE IS IN YOUR SIGHT

Every second Thursday in October, the eye care community across the world marks the World Sight Day, a day to recognize the importance of good vision in human life, highlight the challenges facing access to quality eye care, good vision and good eye health across the world, and the progress made so far in the fight against avoidable blindness. This year, this date fell on Thursday, 8th of October 2020…..TODAY!

Across the world, the World Health Organization (WHO) reports that about 2.2 billion people from all races, tribes, colours, creeds and status suffer from poor vision and/or blindness. Among these are about 100 million who are completely blind! Take a moment to think about these figures. For comparison, 100 million people will fill up ALL stadiums/arena that have EVER hosted a FIFA-organized tournament from 1930 till date! This will include ALL FIFA World Cups, FIFA Youth Championship, FIFA U-17 World Cups, FIFA Women World Cups, FIFA Women Youth championships, FIFA U-17 Women World Cups, World Club Cups, Five-A-side tournaments, Beach Soccer World Cups, etc. What a number! ‘Luckily’ for us, the other number, 2.2 billion, needs not much emphasizing…It’s just nearly 1/3rd of the world population.

REGRETTABLY, ABOUT 80% OF THESE PERSONS COULD HAVE AVOIDED POOR VISION/BLINDNESS IF THEY READ AND ACTED ON A SIMPLE MESSAGE SUCH AS THIS ONE. NOW THAT YOU ARE READING THIS ONE TODAY, HOW DOES IT AFFECT YOU? YES…..YOU!
Now stop and think of how much of your living depends on good vision. Let me help you…80% of your daily living depends on good vision. . Yes, you heard right. NOW, BY HOW MUCH DO YOU CARE ABOUT THIS PRECIOUS POSSESSION OF YOURS? ARE YOU IN THE GROUP THAT WAITS FOR A SIGN BEFORE THEY VISIT THE EYE DOCTOR? DO YOU KNOW THAT NEARLY ALL YOUR LIFE’S PLAN; GOOD JOB, GOOD BUSINESS, GOOD FAMILY, DRIVE THE BEST OF CARS, LIVE IN THE BEST OF HOUSES, ETC ALL DEPEND ON HOW MUCH YOUR EYES CAN CARRY YOU TOWARDS ACHIEVING THOSE DREAMS? IN SHORT, YOUR LIFE’S HOPE IS LITERARILY IN YOUR SIGHT.
Now that you know, can you do something today to protect your life’s hope and those of the many people around you? Take action today. Visit an eye doctor and also take your family members too. Tell someone about the need to preserve and protect their eyesight. For nearly two decades, I have been in the business of reducing these numbers and have joined numerous others from across the world in passing messages such as this one across to many. Help me spread this message and do all you can to make sure you are not counted in the numbers. TO PREVENT IS BETTER THAN TO CURE.
I leave you with this simple summary:
YOUR LIFE’S HOPE DEPENDS ON YOUR SIGHT…PRESERVE IT AT ALL COST.

The 20-20-2 Rule

What is the 20-20-2 Rule?

After 20 minutes of close work, children should gaze at objects in the distance for at least 20 seconds, and they should be outside intermittently for at least 2 hours per day.

Outdoor light exposure prevents or delays the onset of myopia and may slow progression.

It is strongly recommended that parents introduce the 20-20-2 Rule to all their children, especially those at risk of developing myopia and those already myopic.
