Teen mothers are humans, they are our younger ones who were victimized, quietly misled and burdened with the overpowering responsibilities of nursing a baby without any help.

Many have given up. Some live through life threatening diseases with their babies; something a thousand Naira would have solved if they were properly guided and informed.

The story of the struggles of teen mothers in communities are deeply touching and unending, that's why we at Smartmomsfoundation have taken up the mantra of Informing, Reforming and Restoring hopes back to these teen mothers. Trust me, the work at Ekit Itam Akpan Obong in Itu L. G. A is amazing because we were able to inspire them, gave health talks and our medical team were on ground to carry out genotype test, HIV test, Sickle cell treatment, Blood Pressure check etc. We were also able to give them gifts and food items ranging from baby clothes, pads, diapers, rice, noodles, semovita, wheat, tissue, sanitary towels, etc. wow! There was so much love 💚💚💚💚💚 to give out.

We have so many stories to tell following the ongoing . "I have never seen these number of teen mothers before in the south south" says one of the staffers of FHI360 who was assigned to work with us for this project in line with our newly reached partnership with FHI360.

Because of the large turn out of teen mothers, the highest we've seen thus far, we couldn't complete our work in one day. So we are going back on Saturday the 29th of June by 10am.

Please send in gifts 🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼. You may think the clothes in your wardrobe are no longer good for use, please don't trash them, contact us and drop them lets give them to teen mothers. Their children need support, the mothers need support and our team need support too to serve them better. Teenage pregnancy is a vice we must all stand up with one voice against so we can win this fight together.

Thanks to our Partners FHI360 , Sickle Cell Warriors Care and Healthy Living Foundation (SCWCHLF), Association of Reproductive and Family Health (ARFH).

And thanks to you in advance for your support again.

I don't want to live in the kind of world where we don't look out for each other. Not just the people that are close to us, but anybody who needs a helping hand. I can't change the way anybody else thinks, or what they choose to do, but I can do my bit.

We join millions of people around the globe to celebrate the .

Youths should be given a voice; they have a role to play in curbing violence and in promoting diversity, mutual respect and understanding. Youths must be involved in dialogue, as discussions about national security today affect their future.

Today is the International Day of Cooperatives!

The implementation of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development is well underway, and cooperative businesses remain one of the best-kept secrets in the SDG toolbox. Cooperative enterprises are based on ethics, values, and a set of seven fundamental principles that keep people, rather than profit, at the centre of their businesses.

Cooperatives can be a self-help tool for people to create their own economic opportunities through the power of the collective and pull themselves out of poverty. They re-invest in the communities in which they operate, securing not only the livelihoods of their members but also increasing the wealth of the community as a whole.

By being sources of decent work, spaces for democracy and peace building, and an economic force (the top 300 cooperatives alone generate 2.5 trillion USD in annual turnover, more than the GDP of France), cooperatives are truly a partner in transforming our world.

Africa has taken its commitment to the Sustainable Development Goals a step further by launching an SDG centre for the continent.

President Paul Kagame of Rwanda officially launched the centre at an international conference in Kigali. The conference focused on how Africa could achieve the United Nations’ SGDs by 2030.

The centre will provide technical support, advice and expertise to national governments, private sector organisations, the civil society and academic institutions.

“This centre will serve as an important, focal point for advocacy and coordination,” he said. “But like the SDGs themselves this institution is a tool to help us get what we really want, and that is results.”

He added: “These global goals should not be seen as an external agenda, but as an integrated part of a country’s development vision.”

During the conference participants also looked at some of the centre’s current initiatives in terms of building and monitoring, evaluation and reporting of the progress made by African countries towards the SDGs.

“If we are to meet the SDGs, we need to share stories about what works and what doesn’t, develop creative ways to finance projects that will aid in development, and combine our knowledge in order to multiply it,” said Dr Belay Begashaw, the centre’s director general.
