In a democratic country everyone is equal before the law and and the rule of law must be respected, The continuous siege of the Community of Okuama by the Nigerian Army is a Clear violation of the Fundamental Right of the Indigenous people of Okuama's as enshrined in Chapter 4 of the 1999 constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria and The African Charter on Human and Peoples' Rights (RATIFICATION AND ENFORCEMENT) ACT CAP A9 LFN 1900. The Nigerian Army should respect the rule of law and hand over the investigation of the killing of 17 officers and Soldiers of the Nigerian Army to the appropriate authority which is the Nigerian Police who is saddled with the responsibility to investigate and prosecute, for A man can't be a judge in his own cause , He who comes to equity must come with cleans hands. The indigenous people of Okuama has a right which must be protected and when violated must be enforced.
I call on the President of the federal Republic to direct the military to hands off from the investigation of the subject matter . The police should assume their duties as spelt out in the Police Act .
We stand for the respect of the rule of law .
We stand for due process
We stand for protection and respect of citizen's right
We stand for justice for the slain soldiers and officers of the Nigerian Army ,
We stand for justice for the slain indigenes of Okoma , displaced ones and those injured,
We stand for what is right ,
We stand for justice .
Let every process on this issue be done in accordance with the law.
