As a way to encourage hard work, dedication and commitment, the State Malaria Elimination Program (SMEP) came up with the Staff of the Month series to motivate staff's tirelessness in ensuring the progress of the malaria elimination program.

The criteria for nomination, amongst others, is based on the level of the person's engagement in activities for that month, his/her dutifulness is assessed, and how much effort he/she puts in, in strengthening the program area.

Monthly, the Winner gets a cash prize, he/she is to enjoy a free photo studio session, and his/her enlarged photograph will be hung in the office for one month till the Winner for the next month emerges. And lots of other benefits.

The 2019 April Staff of the Month was merited by one of the newly employed staffs, Miss Peremoboere Monday, haven been attested and nominated by 95% of staffs in the program area.

Peremoboere has demonstrated an invaluable sense of responsibility and willingness to carry out assignments without complaints, and she delivers ultimately. She has also shown support and commitment in ensuring that the fight against malaria is victorious.

She has earned this recognition and emerged the first staff of the month, State Malaria Elimination Program, Bayelsa State Ministry of Health.

We therefore say a big congratulations to her, and encourage more efforts in fortifying the malaria elimination process.

Together, we can beat Malaria!!!

The winners of the 2019 World Malaria Day Online Contest were invited to the 15th State Malaria Elimination Program Weekly Meeting, where they were given their cash prizes, branded Souvenirs (SMEP Customized T-shirts and Crests) and Award Certificates.

The Program Manager, Dr. Kesiye Leghemo appreciated the trio for participating and encouraged them to advocate the fight against malaria in their communities and just any reach.

In a gratitude speech, the Winner of the contest, now known as the State Malaria Advocate, Miss Samantha Numonde Emieseimokumo, who was accompanied by her mum, Mrs Numonde Gladys, thanked the SMEP team for setting up such a platform that engaged the general public and created more awareness about the malaria tragedy. She also appreciated the opportunity given to her to function as an Advocate and for her voice to be heard. "I'm not taking this opportunity for granted. I promise to surprise the SMEP team", she added.

It all ended in praise!!!
