I welcome everyone to the month of April.
I believe all persons living in Ekpetiama Kingdom are well aware of the ravaging new sickness called COVID – 19 caused by the new Corona Virus. It has killed many already, making families to cry across the world.
COVID-19 only respects those who have not caught it. The disease does not respect big man, small man, good man or poor man.
It does not respect Ijaw man or woman.
For us not to cry had-I-known at last, I hereby reiterate & demand immediate change in attitude for persons in the Kingdom and everywhere else as advised by the Bayelsa State and Federal Government of Nigeria, and Medical experts.
They are: A till further notice suspension of all social and cultural activities in Ekpetiama Kingdom – no community gatherings. These include Church Services, marriages, funerals, parties etc.
All information should be disseminated by town criers (ekpekpe) or megaphone.
People should maintain safe distances from each other at all times. Washing of hands should be as often as possible. Use hand sanitizer Frequently touched surfaces should be cleaned regularly. Persons who are coughing, sneezing, or who develop fever should seek immediate medical advice. Listen to Government Radio or TV special announcements on this disease. Stay by yourselves or with family members in the same house. Do not go about. If you go out to do anything, remember to wash your hands and clean your clothes on your return. Do not spread any false information on this disease. The disease does not respect any person, whether Ijaw man or woman. COVID-19 only respects those who have not caught it.
Do not panic, but be more careful.
The Kingdom and your family need you.
