Thiago Silva broke down in tears during his speech to his Fluminense teammates before their Club World Cup win over Inter:
š£ļø "In 2014, I was playing the World Cup in Brazil. On one of our days off, I went home. My stepfather showed upāthe man who made me who I am. He was sick. I didnāt realise how serious it was.
"I went back to the national team. Things ended how they ended. He was hospitalised. I had to return to Paris for preseason. After one of the first league games, my wife called me: āYour stepfather passed away.ā
"Do you know what I mean by this? I didnāt go see him in the hospital. I thought heād get better. That heād be fine. And I went back to Paris...
"What I want to say is this: donāt leave things for later if you can do them now. In the present. Donāt wait. There may not be time."
