From research to rehab 💡

In this post, Querine demonstrates the exercises that show the highest EMG for each of the gluteal muscles — based on the study “Gluteal Muscle Forces during Hip-Focused Injury Prevention and Rehabilitation Exercises” by Collings et al. (2023).

🔹 Gluteus minimus: Loaded SL romanian deadlift
🔹 Gluteus medius: Side plank
🔹 Gluteus maximus: Loaded split squat

The takeaway? When you’re in a rehab setting and working to load these gluteal muscles, exercise selection matters. It’s not enough to just pick something with high EMG — you want the mechanical load (force) to suit your stage and goal.
