When love meets last minute💘

This Valentine’s Day marked the biggest single day for retail sales on Just Eat Takeaway.com, as customers turned to on-demand convenience to make sure no romantic gesture was left behind.

Retail orders surged 72% year-on-year, with thousands of last-minute gifts arriving in under an hour. Flowers led the way, reaching 30 times the typical daily volume, with over 30,000 roses delivered on the day. Plush teddy bears and cards were popular additions to baskets, proving that the finishing touches matter.

Beauty and cosmetics also saw extraordinary demand, with orders up 150% compared to last year. Fragrance led the way, from favourites like Britney Spears Midnight Fantasy and Juicy Couture Viva la Juicy to curated gift sets such as Moschino’s Mini Collection. Meanwhile, sexual-wellness deliveries reached five times last year’s volume, proving that love (and self-care) comes in many forms.

As Pete Chong, Global Head of Retail Partnerships, shared:

“By scaling our florist and retail supply, we’ve turned last-minute Valentine’s panic into stress-free gifting for our customers.”

From bouquets to beauty, this Valentine’s proved that when it comes to celebrating the moment, speed and choice make all the difference. 🌹

Groceries on Just Eat just got even more rewarding 🛒✨

We’re excited to announce the launch of our first grocery partner loyalty program in the UK, with Co-op as our flagship launch partner.

Customers can now link their Co-op Membership card directly to their Just Eat account to unlock exclusive member-only pricing.

This is a true win-win-win:

💸 It meets clear customer demand for value and rewards
📈 It helps our partners, like Co-op, drive sales and increase order frequency
🚀 It's a key part of our strategy to accelerate our grocery offering, with this integration alone forecast to add a significant increase in orders per month

This is just the beginning. We're committed to expanding this program to more partners and markets, creating more choice and value for everyone.

Nine markets. One shared appetite for what’s next.🛍️

Our Global Trends campaign has wrapped across nine markets, spotlighting how food, culture and delivery continue to shape everyday moments around the world.

This year, we focused on what’s really driving behaviour, shifting tastes, cultural influences, and the small moments where delivery plays a role. Blending consumer research, expert insight and real platform data, the campaign explored how people are discovering, ordering and connecting through food, grocery and everyday essentials.

The insights brought some standout moments. In Toronto, one customer spent over $1,000 on flowers in a single order, let’s hope they said yes! And in the UK, the “TikTok effect” was real, with Dubai chocolate-inspired product orders rising by 2,684% as trends translated directly into baskets.

The result? A clearer picture of how tastes are shifting, how culture influences choice, and how delivery fits into those moments, helping customers discover something new and giving partners a platform to shine.

Explore the trends, watch the sizzle video, and see how markets brought their local stories to life.🎬

Love is in the air… and on the pavement.💘🤖

Just in time for Valentine’s Day, we’ve launched a new ground robotics trial in Bristol and Milton Keynes, with robot-powered deliveries rolling from local high street restaurants straight to customers’ doors. In Bristol, deliveries are powered by Delivers.AI, while in Milton Keynes, RIVR robots are taking the lead, all kitted out in iconic Just Eat orange.

The robots have arrived just in time to support local restaurants during an uplift in demand, with Valentine’s Day historically being a popular time for customers to favour local high street outlets. Following successful robotics trials in Switzerland, and alongside ongoing drone trials in Ireland, this is another step in exploring how autonomous delivery can support restaurants during peak moments and enhance the customer experience.

As Mert Öztekin, Chief Technology Officer at Just Eat, said:

“We’re always innovating to improve the delivery experience for our customers. To trial ground robotics we’ve teamed up with two expert organisations to ensure that we’re learning and working with the very best. For those in Bristol and Milton Keynes who love tech - what better way to celebrate Valentine’s Day than a robot delivery from your favourite local.”

If you’re in Bristol or Milton Keynes, you may just spot your next takeaway rolling up in style.💛

This month, our Dublin office hosted Able to Be Seen — a powerful event from our ‘Able at JET’ community, created to spark open conversation and raise awareness of invisible disabilities across our organisation.

We were honoured to welcome Emily Larkin from Invisible Disability Ireland as our keynote speaker. Emily shared her lived experience with honesty and courage, offering important insight into the everyday realities faced by people with invisible disabilities, and the role we all play in fostering understanding, empathy, and inclusion.

Her talk inspired thoughtful questions and reflections from colleagues joining in person and via livestream across our offices, creating a moment of genuine connection across our global community.

Events like this bring our values to life. They remind us that inclusion isn’t a single action; it’s an ongoing commitment to creating accessible spaces, building belonging, growing our collective understanding of disability, and ensuring everyone has the support they need to thrive.

A huge thank-you to our ‘Able at JET’ community team and everyone involved in making this event possible, and to Emily for sharing her story and helping us all deepen our understanding.🧡

Last week, we welcomed food safety leaders from across the industry to our Amsterdam HQ for the 4th Annual Proactive Food Safety Conference, a day centred on innovation, collaboration and the future of trusted food delivery.

With more than 120 industry leaders and 25 expert speakers under one roof, the event created a powerful space to explore the challenges and opportunities shaping tomorrow’s food safety standards. From regulatory shifts to emerging consumer trends, it was a packed agenda focused on what really matters: safer food, smarter systems, and stronger partnerships.

Throughout the day, experts and ambassadors dived into some of the most important topics shaping the future of our industry, including:

🔍 Proactive risk management — looking beyond compliance to identify and mitigate emerging safety challenges
🤖 The role of AI in food safety — including how Just Eat Takeaway.com is using cutting-edge tech to enhance menu building and optimise delivery logistics
🤝 Collaborative best practice — sharing insights to elevate supply chain integrity and protect consumers end-to-end

Behind the scenes, our Food & Product Safety Team continues to play a crucial role in accelerating and de-risking growth through technology. Over the past five years, the team has supported major commercial negotiations and strengthened trust with partners whose own compliance standards are among the highest in the world — from McDonald’s and Co-op to Walmart, Albert Heijn and many more.

It’s a remarkable achievement for a dedicated team, and hosting this year’s conference at our Amsterdam HQ marked a proud milestone: the completion of a five-year plan focused on elevating the safety profile of our business.

“Hosting this event at our Amsterdam HQ gave us a unique opportunity to bring the industry's best thinkers together and steer vital conversations on topics shaping the secure growth of our business.” - Steven Glass, Global Food & Product Safety Director

Food safety sits at the heart of trust, and trust is at the heart of delivery. By bringing global experts together, we’re helping shape a safer, smarter, and more resilient food ecosystem for millions of people who rely on us every day. 🧡

Opening doors to a future in tech. 🚀

At Just Eat Takeaway.com, we recently welcomed students from Ark Bolingbroke Academy to our Fleet Place House office for our first STEM event focused solely on apprenticeships as a route into Tech — a hands-on experience designed to spark curiosity, confidence, and connection.

Throughout the day, students aged 13–17 took part in interactive workshops, tech talks, and a creative group challenge, all led by JETers from Product & Tech, Data, Strategy, and Design. Together, they shared real career stories, demystified the tech world, and showed how many different paths can lead to a career in STEM.

For some of our JET volunteers, the day was a full-circle moment, returning to schools and communities like those that first inspired their own journeys into tech.

A huge thank you to everyone who volunteered their time, shared their stories, and helped make the day such a success. By opening our doors, we’re helping more young people see that tech is for everyone and that a future in STEM is within reach. 🧡
