The level of psychological mastery you need to lead others does not come easy. You want others to follow? Who are they following?
Most leaders don’t struggle because they lack professional knowledge, management frameworks or even feedback skills.
They struggle because somewhere on the way, they’ve disconnected from themselves. Or even - that they never were connected in the first place.
They speak but the words seem not to land.
They try to lobby for their ideas, only to find that success feels like a constant struggle for compromise.
They put in more effort, use more words, look for more tactic’s
Only to find, that leadership becomes more and more complex and difficult instead of becoming easy, light and joyful.
And then there’s leadership development that misses the mark.
Studies show that most leadership development is simply not effective, mostly because it trains for behavioural change without looking deeper. It tries to change how leaders behave without connecting to the base of identity: purpose, meaning, healthy vulnerability and empathy.
And without connecting to those, there’s not much to lead with. Not much to follow.
