👀What I found was a unique place with a traditional Japanese homely feel, where a highly experienced chef crafts more traditional Japanese dishes with skill.

😮The clever design, where you can’t see outside, adds to the feeling of being in a piece of Japan!



⭐️A recommendation for those seeking the more authentic Japanese cuisine in Amsterdam!

⭐️These were my favorites of the night:

🍴Sashimi with delicious fresh wasabi
2x white fish (sea bream and sea bass)
3x tuna in three different levels of fattiness
1x salmon
1x shrimp (I couldn’t taste it due to allergies)

🍴Salmon with spring onion and miso paste, deliciousl and mildly sweet.

🍴Cod in miso with Parmesan cheese and Spanish pepper with bonito flakes - This was also a favorite. It reminded me a bit of Peruvian “conchitas a la parmezana”. Mildly sweet, grilled flavor.

🍴Sushi: Medium fatty tuna with a mildly sweet soy sauce (favorite)

🍴Homemade green tea ice cream - It resembled “creamier” shaved ice, but in the form of a scoop! Delicious!

🫣Okay, after my “wine smelling” picture on my stories, I got questions about HOW I taste a wine in a restaurant... So, here it is 👇🏽



🚨Let me start by saying that I’m not a wine expert (only food, hospitality & fitness lol 👀), BUT during my 10+ years working in hospitality I’ve had the honor of learning from a few amazing sommeliers and many wine tastings. ⭐️

AND 3 very helpful tips that helped me when I was beginner wine taster were these below, BUT…

…the BIGGEST tip I can give you is this: Search for what’s WRONG with the wine FIRST!

1️⃣APPEARANCE: BEFORE you start tasting: hold the glass at the stem - look at it and make sure there are no particles in your wine.

2️⃣SMELL: Swirl the glass - place 2 fingers on the bottom of the glass: this helps separate the aromas in the wine

Bring glass to your nose and SMELL - YOU ARE NOT smelling if it smells good, you’re smelling to make sure there isn’t something WRONG with your wine! You can smell something is WRONG with the wine if it smells like wet dirty oxidized card board and/or acid nail polish remover.

3️⃣TASTE: ONLY if you smell your wine is GOOD, you can start sipping and actually tasting the wine.

Optional: add some oxygen if you want by inhaling some air into the wine in the mouth. Oxygen plays and important roll, because it helps release the more complex components. Sometimes is best to let the wine “breathe” before drinking

🚨 HOSPITALITY TIP: I usually wait until everyone at the table has their wine before I start drinking. I give the sommelier the go-ahead, so he can start pouring the wine. We toast, and only after that I start tasting.

The problem is that people are way too impatient. Changing a physique takes time and consistency. Doing the same thing over and over and over again. For years.
If you don't get to realize that, you're going to get stuck in a vicious circle of trying the "next new best thing". Always trying to find a shortcut. Trying to find quick results. We can tell you know, THERE ARE NO SHORTCUTS and REAL RESULTS HAPPEN OVER TIME, NOT OVERNIGHT. What you need to change is your lifestyle, incorporating sustainable habits and conscious choices. ✅Turn on your longterm thinking mindset. Be ready to PUT IN THE WORK!

5 Things you should know if you want to Change your Body Composition (READ 👇🏽)

1. You can't out train a bad diet. Eat to fuel your lean body mass.
2. Strength Training is your most important tool when building a physique
4. You don't need to do cardio or HIIT to get the physique you want
5. Process is slow, so consistency is key. Keep going! Do the same thing over and over and over and over again.

High Protein Dessert for tonight? Try this!
Per portion: 31g protein and 285 kcal

We stole this recipe from SUPPLEAM®] and adapted it a bit to make it higher in protein and lower in sugar. The original is with chocolate soy dessert.
🍪Vegan High Protein Cookie dessert 🤤SOOOO EASY!👇

Ingredients for 2 portions:
- 400ml unsweetened soy yoghurt
- 60g SUPPLEAM Premium Plant-Based Protein in Tiramisu (get yours on www.suppleam.com, w/code BODYMASTERS20). Mix with a whisk to untill its smooth and fluffy 😍
-Optional: extra stevia or other zero kcal
Sweetener

- topping: 2 chocolate chip cookies (ours were 116kcal each), 1 cookie per serving, crumbled.
- optional: few strawberries for decoration

❕Nutritional value: 31g vegan protein and 285 kcal per portion

We said it once, we'll say it a billion times more: EAT YOUR PROTEIN...👇

If it's your goal to change your body composition you want to eat your protein and do resistance training. Evidence has shown that having a high protein diet can have a positive effect on lean body mass. We already knew that, but now there is also evidence that suggest that protein overfeeding (so having a very high protein diet) could potentially NOT result in gaining fat mass EVEN when consuming MORE calories than maintenance. Wait, WHAT?! 🤯
This could potentially mean that even if you eat a few hundred calories more than maintenance (coming from protein), this would potentially not result in fat mass gains... Aka if you overeat, overeat with protein, because "dietary protein appears to have a protective effect against fat gain during times of energy surplus, especially when combined with resistance training."(1,2)

👉MAIN TAKE AWAY: the evidence suggests that dietary protein may be the key macronutrient in terms of promoting positive changes in body composition. (1,2)

So, we here at .official also work with teens. Last week I (coach Niels) had a conversation with one of my younger clients (15 y/o). He told me that he REALLY wanted to join a gym but feels really INTIMIDATED by all the big guys, making noise, pushing heavy weights. He also told me he is not sure of his abilities within the gym. This is what I told him...👇🏼

The first time I EVER entered a gym, was when I was 16 y/o. A friend (who had been there before) took me. I was skinny and awkward. I'd never seen weights in real life. 👀
I remember seeing a person on the "lat pull down machine" and they were pulling 60kg, and making a lot of noise... and I thought WOW. 🤯 (NOW, I'm thinking... why all that sound with 60kgs... but that's a different story lol). The first exercise we did was a bench press, I used the barbell (20kg) and I looked like a chihuahua during winter. I almost broke apart. 😂

🤜🏼What I'm trying to say is that it was very intimidating for me too! ...But have I led that self-proclaimed intimidation get to me, I would have NEVER gotten the physique I have today.
Focus on what YOU ARE DOING and not on what OTHERS are doing. If you keep focussing on what OTHERS are doing you'll not giving enough attention to your own goals and this will hold you back. Don't let anyone distract you from your goals. ...and if you feel scared? SHOW COURAGE AND DO IT ANYWAY. Everyone was a beginner once, NO ONE WAS BORN MUSCULAR...

Meal prepping is setting yourself up for succes. It's about thinking ahead and making sure that your day with have enough and the right food. Meal prepping isn't for slackers. 😎

🌱Here are our A few HIGH PROTEIN VEGAN MEAL PREP Favorites:
👉1. Protein Oats: hands down our (alle three of us) favorite. Its relatively cheap, easy and quick. Just oats and Vegan Protein Powder in a container (we use High Quality Protein by .official see link in our bio), add hot water, fruit. Done. Need extra calories? Add a nut butter or nuts. Here is a low calorie set-up for 1 portion: 40g oats mixed with 50g .official vegan protein powder (made with water, put in microwave for 1 minute) with 100g blueberries. 355 kcal and 45g protein.

👉2. Beans, rice and Tofu: Niels loves this one. Tofu made with Surinamese Hindustani massala (kerri), a bit of water maggi cube (broth cube) and tomatoes and 50% less sugar tomato ketchup.
An example of amounts for 1 portion: 250g tofu, 175g cooked weight rice, 125g brown beans, 1 tomato (125g), 25g tomato ketchup 50% less sugar, 1tbsp massala, 1 broth cube. 695 kcal | 45g protein

👉3. Protein Wraps with hummus, red bell pepper and greens: Soufiane loved wraps. So easy. Hummus is considered a fat source with a bit of protein. To make sure he get's enough protein in, he uses vegan protein wraps (see www.suppleam.com to get yours). An example of amounts for 1 portion : 3 protein wraps, 90g hummus, 90g spinach, 100g red bell pepper - 719 kcal | 40g protein

Are you always the FITTEST- STRONGEST person in the room? HOW this can NEGATIVELY impact your physique👇

So, you know the saying “If you are the smartest person in the room, you are in the wrong room?”
This saying can also be applied as followed: if you’re the fittest, strongest person in the room, you’re in the wrong room 🤪 All jokes aside, and a bit more nuanced now: The environment in which we live, work and learn has an impact on our health (both physical and mental). ... A healthy living environment promotes healthy behaviours.

Us trainers hang around each other a lot, so needless to say we can withhold a healthy active lifestyle quite easily as we are all in the same ball game. We have a friendly competitive environment and will tell each other if he/she is slacking but also when he/she is doing great! We’ll go for walks, make sure we keep eating properly, get excited over new high protein products… 😂

🥺But what if you don’t have an fit-active environment? What if you are indeed the “fittest person in the room”, Are your friends/family members people who smoke, drink, eat crappy food, neglect activity? BE AWARE! An unhealthy living environment can promote unhealthy behaviours.
So, inspire a friend or family member to join your fitness journey …or (if no one wants to join) get a professional to guide and inspire you and to keep you accountable. 💪

VEGAN HIGH PROTEIN NOODLES WITH SUGAR SNAPS.

👀Per portion: 45g protein and 550 kcal

Well, coach Angela has outdone herself with this one… Here are the ingredients for this meal. After cooking the pasta and sugar snaps just throw it all together in a wok or pan👇

Ingredients:
✅40g uncooked weight High Protein Spaghetti available through www.suppleam.com .official (use our code, see below)
✅60g uncooked weight whole wheat spaghetti
✅125g steamed or cooked sugar snaps
✅ 100g tofu
✅ garlic
✅ 20ml low sodium soy salt. You could also use teriyaki sauce 🤤
