BiA Doula Training BiA Training offers a comprehensive doula training and continuous education for birth professionals The three days are hands-on and dynamic.

BiA Doula Training is a comprehensive doula training program. Four days of Foundation Training taught by experienced doula teachers, followed by a period of internships, with a dedicated mentor. The Advanced training is a three day advanced skills training, where our students learn extra techniques to complement their knowledge and experience.

Mooi verwoord door één van onze studenten, dit is waarom (observatie) stages, een dag- en een nachtdienst, in het ziekenhuis en bij een verloskundige praktijk bij ons tot de stappen om te certificeren horen. We hechten grote waarde aan samenwerking met de medische zorgverleners. De stages helpen daarbij en zijn bedoeld om inzicht te krijgen in het werkveld, in de werkwijze en werkzaamheden van verpleegkundigen, verloskundigen en gynaecologen op een verloskundige afdeling van een ziekenhuis en eerstelijns verloskundigen. Studenten zien in de praktijk waar in de in-person lessen over gesproken is en kunnen vragen stellen om hun kennis te vergroten. Heel waardevol😊 We know what makes good doulas 😊

As one of our students so beautifully put it, this is why (observation) internships, day and night shifts, in hospitals and at midwifery practices are part of the steps to certification with us. We greatly value collaboration with healthcare providers. The internships help with this and are intended to provide insight into the field, the working methods and activities of nurses, midwives and gynaecologists in a hospital maternity ward and primary care midwives. Students see in practice what is discussed in the in-person lessons and can ask questions to increase their knowledge. Very worthwhile😊 We know what makes good doulas 😊

When working with pregnant people, women in labour and parents in the postpartum period, we are bound to provide care to people who have experienced trauma in their lives. Albeit birth trauma, attachment trauma, shock trauma or physical or sexual abuse. In pregnancy, birth and the postpartum these traumas can show up or get (re)triggered in different ways.

In the training Holding Space for Trauma you will develop an understanding of how trauma is stored in the nervous system and in which ways and forms it can show up in pregnancy, birth and the (extended) postpartum. The aim is that you will develop an embodied understanding of what it is that clients with previous trauma need from their care / care provider, and how to offer Trauma Informed Care.

Moreover, you will also develop an understanding of how your own nervous system works as care provider, how it is taxed by working in the birth field, and what is needed for you as birth professional to not only provide trauma informed care, but also to support your own physical, emotional and psychological health. Trauma Informed Care is actually a way of burn-out prevention and finding continuous work-satisfaction for all professionals working with pregnancy, birth and the postpartum.

The course consists of pre-course webinar & reading, 2 in-person interactive days and 2 post-training online sessions for follow-up and integration.

Today we celebrate the certification of Bia Doula Karina Sütő. .karina ❤️ 🎉With curiosity and a deep passion for birth and birthwork, she started the training and gradually developed and deepened her qualities as a Doula. With her careful attention, self-reflection, training in psychology, love for mothers and babies, she is a tremendous support for parents-to-be! Recently returned to Romania, it is her wish to make a positive contribution to the quality of birth care there. We wish her the best of luck with this pioneering work! Congratulations, dear Karina! 🎉

Vandaag vieren we de certificering van Bia Doula Karina Sütő. ❤️ Met nieuwsgierigheid en een diepe passie voor geboortezorg begon ze aan de opleiding en heeft gaandeweg haar kwaliteiten als Doula ontwikkeld en verdiept. Kom naar onze driedaagse intensieve training waarin je leert hoe je zowel heerlijke deelmassages (onderbenen/voeten; nek, schouders, hoofd/buikmassage) als een volledige zwangerschapsmassage kunt geven. Je hoeft geen massage-ervaring te hebben, maar het is wel nodig dat je affiniteit hebt met hands-on lichaamswerk en graag massages krijgt: je leertijd wordt verdeeld in 50% masseren en 50% gemasseerd worden! Kennis en begrip van zwangerschap en geboorte is een voorwaarde, bijvoorbeeld als bevallingsdocent, verloskundige, doula, kraamverzorgende of verpleegkundige.

De driedaagse postpartum massage training is bedoeld voor mensen die al masseren en kennis hebben van of in ieder geval affiniteit hebben met wat mensen in de postnatale periode doormaken - fysiek, emotioneel en psychologisch. Je leert aanvullende technieken en verschillende deel massages, die je vervolgens kunt toepassen bij het geven van volledige lichaamsmassages in de postnatale periode. Ook hier geldt dat je 50% van de tijd masseert en de andere helft van de tijd gemasseerd wordt!

Join us for a 3-day immersion into learning how to give both wonderful partial massages (lower leg / foot; neck, shoulders, head / belly massage) as well as how to give a full body pregnancy massage. You do not have to have massage experience, it is helpful though to have an affinity with hands-on body work as well as enjoying receiving massages: your time learning will be divided in 50% massaging and 50% receiving massages!. You do need to have knowledge and understanding of pregnancy and birth - i.e. as a childbirth educator, midwife, doula, kraamverzorgende, nurse.

The three day Postpartum Massage Training is for people who already massage and who have knowledge about or at least affinity with what people in the postpartum period go through - physically, emotionally, psychologically. You will learn additional techniques and different partial massages, that you can then incorporate in giving full body massages in the postpartum period. Again you will massage 50% of the time and the other half of the time you'll be massaged!

Vandaag vieren we de certificering van Gerdien! 🎂🎉🌹 We zijn trots en blij haar te verwelkomen als gecertificeerd BiA Doula en collega. Met een hele fijne energie, grote leergierigheid, rust, humor en passie vloog zij in iets meer dan een jaar door de training heen😊 Met diezelfde passie en rust, energie en warme aandacht begeleidt zij aanstaande ouders en gezinnen in de zwangerschap, bij de geboorte en in de periode daar na, in de wijde omgeving van Enkhuizen. Van harte gefeliciteerd, Gerdien! 💐❤️

Ennnn...hier is de andere zus, van , met haar ook zeer wel-verdiende doula certificering! 🎉🎂 Hartelijk gefeliciteerd Ymke, wat fijn om je als collega te hebben! Met haar open blik, enorme enthousiasme, haar warme hart, haar humor en honger naar meer kennis en ontwikkeling is Ymke een fantastische doula. Ymke werkt in Apeldoorn en omgeving, samen met haar zus Mirjam. 'Samen zijn zij de Doulazussen - met hen aan je zijde, weet je je altijd gesteund.' 💕

Kom naar onze Open Dag waar we met je delen wat we aanbieden in onze opleiding tot doula. De kwaliteit die wij bieden bij BiA Doula Training bestaat uit hoogwaardige inhoud, gevarieerde lesmethodieken en vooral ook de manier waaróp wij lesgeven. Uren, maanden en járen van ervaring en het léven van het vak hebben we gestopt in het lesprogramma.

De trainers zijn beiden meer dan 15 jaar aan het werk als doula en leidden al meer dan 10 jaar mensen op tot professioneel doula. De jaren tellen mee 😉 Wij weten wat er écht nodig is in het doulaschap. Niet alleen om jezelf te ontwikkelen als doula maar ook wat er nodig is om langer dan een paar jaar doula te zijn in een snel veranderend veld binnen de geboortezorg.

Als we samen lesgeven, dan léven we het doulaschap voor, in de manier van zijn met elkaar, met de studenten, met het begeleiden van de groep en het oog hebben voor ieder als uniek persoon.

We zijn misschien niet heel insta-hip, maar wel ECHT ❤️

Come to our Open Day where we can share with you what we offer in our doula training programme. The quality we offer at BiA Doula Training consists of high-quality content, varied teaching methods and, above all, the way we teach. We have put hours, months and years of experience and líving the profession into the curriculum.

Both trainers have been working as doulas for more than 15 years and have been training people to become professional doulas for more than 10 years. The years count 😉. We know what is really needed in doula work. Not only to develop yourself as a doula, but also what it takes to be a doula for more than a few years in a rapidly changing field within birth care.

When we teach together, we embody the doula work in the way we interact with each other, with the students, with the group, and with our attention to each person as a unique individual.

We may not be very Insta-hip, but we are very REAL ❤️

Wat als de baarmoeder een verhaal te vertellen heeft en dat de taal zie zij daarvoor heeft, uitdrukking krijgt in de weeën? Hoe gaan we dan naar weeën kijken? Of liever, luisteren? Wat zegt het ritme van de weeën ons? Is er een opbouw die ons naar een crescendo meeneemt zoals we meegenomen worden in de spanningsboog van een verhaal? Of is er plotseling een plotwending, en vertelt het weeën-patroon ons een verhaal van zoeken, verloren voelen en stagnatie?
Wat als de baarmoeder eigenlijk altijd klaar is om met de weeën de baby te helpen op de reis door het be**en naar beneden en daar eigenlijk alles voor doet in een verborgen samenspel met Baby.

Als we op deze manier gaan luisteren, of we nou doula of verloskundige zijn, of degene die aan het baren is, hoe zou dat ons perspectief en daarmee ons handelen veranderen? Bijvoorbeeld als een baring ‘niet vordert’?

Our story

BiA Doula Training is a comprehensive 6 day doula training program with a focus on hands on and interaction learning. The program includes a 3 day foundation training, followed by a 3 day advanced training where the student doulas learn alongside experienced doulas who are keen learn new skills, or to refresh existing ones. After the foundation training, students are able to begin internships and attend births as a student doula. Generally students participate in the advanced course three to six months after the foundation course. Those with prior experience or coming from abroad can apply to do the training’s consecutively.

The training includes in person training, extensive manuals and home study, internships, mentoring and an online student community. In addition we offer low cost support and development meetings every 6 weeks and reduced fees for continuing education hosted by BiA Doula.
