Many people don’t find us first.
They find us after trying everything else.

- Sometimes they’ve done months of physical therapy.
- Sometimes they’re told to “manage it.”
- Sometimes they’re simply told nothing more can be done.

So how do they end up here?

Often… another provider quietly suggests a different path.

Because when pain keeps returning — especially with disc problems, nerve symptoms, or recurring neck and back pain — it’s not always a strength issue.

Sometimes the spine itself isn’t moving properly.

When key segments of the spine lose motion, the body adapts:
• muscles tighten to protect
• movement shifts elsewhere
• pressure builds in discs and nerves
• progress stalls

You can work hard…
and still feel stuck.

That’s where our work begins.

At Thrive Chiropractic Amsterdam, we focus on restoring motion where the body stopped moving well, so the nervous system can re-organize and other care can actually work.

This is why some chiropractors and physiotherapists refer complex or persistent cases here:
not for quick relief, but for a structured approach when recovery isn’t progressing.

If you’ve been doing “all the right things” but your body still isn’t changing, you’re not alone.

Sometimes the next step isn’t more effort or more training. It’s a different focus.

Understanding the difference can change everything.

If you are suffering from a herniated disc, disc bulge, sciatica, or nerve pain radiating down your leg - please contact us.

- We correct patterns, not chase symptoms

- We integrate training + stabilization

- We receive referrals from other clinics (chiropractic, fysio & huisarts)

- Our care requires progression, not one-off adjustments

When someone has a disc bulge or herniation, most treatment focuses on symptoms: pain, nerve irritation, muscle tension.

But the disc is rarely the starting point.

Often the deeper issue is this:
The lumbopelvic foundation isn’t moving well, so the body compensates:
• muscles tighten to stabilize
• joints above absorb extra load
• pressure concentrates into the disc
• symptoms persist or return

That’s where our work begins.

At Thrive Chiropractic Amsterdam, care focuses on restoring motion at the specific spinal segments that drive the entire system — then stabilizing that change through precise care and movement integration.

For some patients, this also includes 𝐧𝐨𝐧-𝐬𝐮𝐫𝐠𝐢𝐜𝐚𝐥 𝐬𝐩𝐢𝐧𝐚𝐥 𝐝𝐞𝐜𝐨𝐦𝐩𝐫𝐞𝐬𝐬𝐢𝐨𝐧, used to gradually reduce pressure on irritated discs while the nervous system reorganizes movement.

This is why OTHER heatlh care specialists refer here:
Not for a quick adjustment — but for a structured, progressive approach when recovery has stalled.

If you’ve been told to “wait it out,” manage symptoms, or simply limit activity —
there may be another path.

If you’re navigating disc pain and want to understand your options, we’re here to help.

During perimenopause and menopause, changes in hormones affect joint stability, bone density, reaction time, and recovery. That’s why many women notice stiffness, balance issues, or a fear of sudden movements — even if they’ve “always been active.”

Our 𝐒𝐩𝐢𝐧𝐞-𝐅𝐢𝐫𝐬𝐭 𝐁𝐞 𝐔𝐧𝐛𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐤𝐚𝐛𝐥𝐞 training focuses on what actually matters now:

• 𝐃𝐞𝐜𝐞𝐥𝐞𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 — learning how to slow down safely and control force
• 𝐀𝐧𝐭𝐢-𝐫𝐨𝐭𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐜𝐨𝐫𝐞 𝐭𝐫𝐚𝐢𝐧𝐢𝐧𝐠 — real spinal stability, not just ab work
• 𝐁𝐨𝐧𝐞-𝐝𝐞𝐧𝐬𝐢𝐭𝐲–𝐚𝐰𝐚𝐫𝐞 𝐥𝐨𝐚𝐝𝐢𝐧𝐠 — building strength without unnecessary risk
• 𝐅𝐚𝐥𝐥 𝐩𝐫𝐞𝐯𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧, 𝐜𝐨𝐨𝐫𝐝𝐢𝐧𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 & 𝐛𝐚𝐥𝐚𝐧𝐜𝐞 𝐜𝐨𝐧𝐟𝐢𝐝𝐞𝐧𝐜𝐞
• 𝐍𝐞𝐫𝐯𝐨𝐮𝐬-𝐬𝐲𝐬𝐭𝐞𝐦–𝐥𝐞𝐝 𝐦𝐨𝐯𝐞𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭 supported by our chiropractor

By training movement in multiple directions, at different speeds, and under controlled variability, we teach the body how to absorb, redirect, and manage force — the skills that keep you upright, strong, and confident in daily life.

This isn’t about pushing harder.
It’s about moving smarter — 𝐬𝐨 𝐲𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐛𝐨𝐝𝐲 𝐬𝐭𝐚𝐲𝐬 𝐜𝐚𝐩𝐚𝐛𝐥𝐞 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐝𝐞𝐜𝐚𝐝𝐞𝐬, not just workouts.

Training is offered in small group sessions (max 4 ) or 1:1 personal training, fully integrated with chiropractic care at Thrive Chiropractic Amsterdam.

𝐌𝐨𝐬𝐭 𝐜𝐥𝐢𝐞𝐧𝐭'𝐬 𝐝𝐨𝐧’𝐭 𝐠𝐞𝐭 𝐢𝐧𝐣𝐮𝐫𝐞𝐝 𝐝𝐨𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐧𝐨𝐭𝐡𝐢𝐧𝐠.

They get injured doing everything right:
strength training, cardio, meditation, 8+ hours of sleep, nutrition...

But when spinal motion quietly decreases, the body starts to compensate.

- Muscles tighten.
- Movement loses symmetry.
- Load shifts to places it shouldn’t.

That’s when exercise begins to feel painful — or risky. (Raise your hand if you've injured your back performing a deadlift).

At 𝐓𝐡𝐫𝐢𝐯𝐞, chiropractic care restores motion where it’s lost. By adjusting fixated areas, we remove the need for compensation.

The result?
- Better range of motion
- Improved symmetry
- Less pain and tension
- Stronger, cleaner movement mechanics

This is how we help client's stay strong, upright, and confident — 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐥𝐨𝐧𝐠 𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐦.

When key spinal segments 𝐒𝐓𝐎𝐏 moving well — especially in the neck, mid-back, and lumbopelvic foundation — the nervous system 𝐜𝐨𝐦𝐩𝐞𝐧𝐬𝐚𝐭𝐞𝐬 by 𝐭𝐢𝐠𝐡𝐭𝐞𝐧𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐦𝐮𝐬𝐜𝐥𝐞𝐬 and 𝐥𝐢𝐦𝐢𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐫𝐚𝐧𝐠𝐞.

Over time:

- muscles fire out of sequence
- balance strategies decline
- joints above and below absorb excess load
- discs and connective tissue take on stress they weren’t designed for

This is why stretching, massage, or even good exercise often bring only temporary relief.

The pattern underneath hasn’t changed.

Chiropractic care focuses on restoring segmental spinal motion — the small, precise movements that allow the nervous system to coordinate the body efficiently.

When spinal joints 𝐦𝐨𝐯𝐞 𝐩𝐫𝐨𝐩𝐞𝐫𝐥𝐲:

- muscles don’t need to stay guarded
- balance improves
- load distributes more evenly
- movement becomes safer and more adaptable

This is especially important as we age when lost motion becomes harder — to restore later.

Structural Chiropractic doesn’t replace training. It makes movement 𝐏𝐎𝐒𝐒𝐈𝐁𝐋𝐄 again.

Most injuries we see in women 40+ don’t happen while lifting — they happen while slowing down.

Fast reps, poor coaching, and fatigue-based workouts overload shoulders, knees, and tendons — especially during peri- and menopause.

At Thrive Chiropractic Amsterdam, we focus on:
• Deceleration training
• Spine-led strength
• Bone-density-aware loading
• Fall prevention and stabilityThis isn’t group fitness.

Why Our Chiropractor May Recommend Guided Training Alongside Care:

Chiropractic helps restore and maintain healthy joint movement — especially in the spine.

But movement alone isn’t enough.

Once joints start moving better, your body needs to learn how to use that movement safely and confidently again. That’s where training comes in.

Many women in their 40s and beyond don’t feel “injured” — but they feel:

- Stiffer than they used to be

- Less steady on their feet

- More cautious bending, turning, or carrying things

- Tired after movements that used to feel easy

This isn’t weakness.
It’s your nervous system protecting joints that don’t feel reliable.

Training after chiropractic care helps your body:

- Build strength around newly restored motion

- Improve balance and reaction time

- Slow down movements safely (fall prevention)

- Reinforce better posture and movement patterns

This type of training isn’t about pushing harder or sweating more.

It’s about control, confidence, and long-term joint safety.

By combining chiropractic and targeted training:

- Your adjustments last longer

- Your body compensates less

- Every day movement feels easier and more secure

This is preventive care — designed to keep you moving well now, so care can stay gentle later.

At Thrive Chiropractic Amsterdam, we focus on restoring motion where it’s lost — before stiffness becomes pain.

Targeted training then teaches the body how to use that movement safely — improving balance, posture, and control.

Together, this approach helps women stay strong, steady, and confident in daily life — now and in the years ahead.

𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐅𝐢𝐫𝐬𝐭 𝐒𝐢𝐠𝐧 𝐈𝐬𝐧’𝐭 𝐔𝐬𝐮𝐚𝐥𝐥𝐲 𝐏𝐚𝐢𝐧

The first sign of a herniated disc or bulging disc isn’t always sharp pain or sciatica.

Most early signals are quiet — and easy to brush off.

Things patients often tell us later:
• “My hamstrings were always tight, no matter how much I stretched.”
• “One arm just felt heavy.”
• “I couldn’t wear a necklace — it felt uncomfortable or irritating.”
• “I stopped carrying a purse on one shoulder due to pulling feeling.”
• “Turning my head felt different side to side.”
• “I had headaches, but no real neck pain.”

These aren’t random.

They’re often signs that key areas of the spine aren’t moving the way they should — especially where the neck meets the upper back or where the low back meets the pelvis.

When motion is restricted, the body compensates quietly… long before pain shows up.

If this sounds familiar, you’re not alone — and it doesn’t mean anything is “wrong” with you.

The more we understand what our bodies are telling us early on, the better we can care for them — and often prevent bigger problems from developing.

At Thrive Chiropractic Amsterdam, we focus on identifying and correcting these underlying movement patterns — not just treating symptoms once they become severe.

The more you understand what your body is telling you early on, the better you can care for it and prevent more serious issues from developing.
