Hello Lovely people!
It’s been a while since i’ve posted on this page. Life has been a bit of a rollercoaster since I’ve closed the studio. A lot of inner work has been done to let go of the old and make room for the new.
I have faced some fears that I have developed strongly the last year and grown into a stronger and more relaxed me. With the different therapies I did the last 8 months and picking up my yoga therapy study again I have so many new tools to guide me thru life, and I can’t wait to share this with you in a class or one on one. Now I feel full of energy and life, going towards a new direction.
For the last half year I have been working with the new health centre in de pijp (just a few blocks away from the old studio), to set up the new yoga studio . We have been up and running now for the last two months. Due to the summer holidays it’s been a slow start, but this is what happens during these months. Yet already this last week we see that people are getting back from holiday and ready to get back to their weekly yoga practice. I invite you to join us at the beautiful yoga studio of the Innersense Yoga. On the schedule you will also find a few of your familiar teachers of yoga studio de pijp (Marloes, Fara, Stacy, Janna). I have already had the pleasure to see some familiar students back in my class and look forward to seeing you too.
Please follow their insta since I will be keeping track on what’s happening there. Eventually I will close this account. If you like to reach me personally please follow me on . Having been offline for 8 months was amazing and I would recommend everyone to do this once in a while to reconnect with your true self. This online network can be a beautiful way to get i touch with people, but it’s also the biggest distraction that we put upon us.
I’ll be happy to share with you these tools that helped me to let go of my anxiety, panic attacks and disconnection of my whole being over the last year. Stay tuned .
See you on the mat y’all 🧘🏽‍♀️❤️

The time has come to say goodbye to our beautiful Yoga Studio de Pijp.

After three and half years I decided to stop running the studio as of December. The last seven months I have been having lots of problems with the owners of the space that I'm renting. The space is old and that is its charme. This however does ask a lot of maintenance. And because the owners refuse to take responsibility for any maintancenance, I (+ Niels and my dad) have been taking care and fixed everything ourselves. Unfortunately just before quarantine it escalated when one of the owners attacked me. During quarantine I found out that they were both sick, so I figured that It's just bad luck for me that they are taking this out on me. So I felt bad and tried to make peace. Which was successful. So I thought. Unfortunately this changed after we reopened and the communication has gotten so toxic that I became mentally and physically sick from the whole situation.
The last three months have been so heavy on me with not only the stress that corona brings upon (small)businessowners but also mainly because of this negative cloud that is above the studio. And I mean this literally because they live upstairs from the studio.

This studio has been my first own business. And I am so goddamn proud that I did it. I opened the studio and was teaching the first two months practically by myself. I was exhausted and scared what I got myself into, only to find out that I was carrying our precious baby Luna by then. Wauw the universe was giving me it all at once. So no wonder I was always tired! Soon I started to hire more teachers and from there on we started to build this amazing community and a successful boutique/living room yoga studio. With ten teachers and at times 600 attendees a month. Wauw how many people did we support in their health and wellbeing. I am so grateful for all the wonderful teachers who helped make Yoga Studio de Pijp this success and the yoga home for so many people. A place where they can be themselve, be heard and be supported. This experience has been such an amazing ride and great life lessons that I'm beyond grateful for. It wasn't always fun because the whole administration part is why I left the corporate business. Yet this is also part of running a business. Though I also got the opportunity to meet many interesting people who I learned from. I welcomed them into our beautiful space and saw them! I am a social butterfly and a people person and I am so happy that I got to have these connections. The quarantine gave me the change to realize that I want to do more of this. Be with people, teach and support them. So this time might have even a bit of a blessing and time to tune inwards. I got to spend so much time with my family, not having to stress about the landlords or bills to be paid. It felt like a holiday that I didn't take for the last three years. Before we opened the studio in July I started teaching my private clients and that made my heart beat faster again. Before we had to close this feeling might have been overshadowed by automatic pilot. So dissociating myself from this toxic relationship I had with my landlord wasn't easy. On the contrary, it almost got me burned out because I wanted to hold on to this wat I have grown the last three years. But realizing that what I had with the studio was not going to serve me anymore like it had before. It made me realize that it is okay to let go. To be proud of what I have done, proud of who I am now (Farrah + Lunas mam :)), and that I will continue to be good what I set my to in the future.
For now i’m looking into the future with an open mind and lot of focus on teaching, family/social time and self-study (Svādhyāya).
I am forever grateful for my love, my parents, my in-laws and friends who supported me to take this change and believed in it when opening my own studio and now closing this chapter for a new one.

Needless to say that we are going to miss you. But please connect with your favorite teacher to find out where else they are teaching.
Thank you all so much for your support the last three and half years. Before we close I would like to invite you for a little get together as a sign of appreciation. Please let me know if you would be interested in this. Just need to see how I will organize this with all the regulations of the dutch government at the moment. Will get back to you on this.

Either Way I hope to see you around for the next two months or at a different place or time in the future.

Namaste.
Farrah

Summer is nearly coming to an end and making room for trees to shed, days to be wetter and nights to be longer. Autumn is slowly making its way back into our lives.

I always have mixed feelings about this season. Since i'm born and as a child, brought up in sunny weather; I feel the most alive in the summer. I really feel that I blossoming in the spring, and am completely whole and at my best in the summer. I guess the sun does bring out the best in most people. And when September comes I always feel like I have to say goodbye to a short time of fun times outside, bright days, late nights, lots of gezelligheid, bare skin and short dresses. But then again, spring and summer can also bring lots more restlessness. Especially in this country where most of us want to soak up all those rare sunny days and enjoy it to the fullest. Which is a beautiful thing and we should enjoy life! However, for me it is sometimes a challenge to stay balanced during these times. Because when I play hard, I also need to work a little harder to stay grounded, healthy, disciplined and focused. Well this year the spring/summer has been like no other summer before. Just like everyone else these last months and still now will be a time to never forget. In July the studio opened again and slowly people were getting back into their routine. August was amazing weather-wise, but dramatic for the show up in the studio. This was quiet a challenge. Luckily people were getting used to the outdoor classes and we could enjoy our practice outside as well. This first week of September has been a complete switch and the change that I have (businesswise) been waiting for. Summer holidays are ending and classes are getting filled again. This gives hope in insecure times like this.

However, from Monday the 7th of September the studio will be closed for inside classes due to renovation. You might have seen that the floor in the kitchen has collapsed? And unfortunately the floor in the practice space is also getting weaker. So now (finally!!) its getting fixed, so we have a safe space to practice in again. (continue text below ⬇️)

Today you can flow into your weekend with . At 3pm Stacy is going to take you thru a Vinyasa that will make your body work yet stay connected with the breath. I had Stacy’s class a few weeks ago before we had to close. It was one of the best classes I had in a very long time. Very inspiring!
She is a Vinyasa and restorative yoga teacher and nutrition, from New York City. The plan was to start her classes at the studio a few weeks ago but since we can do that, she is bringing her classes to your homes Live from Zoom. Also a great way to meet each other now a days 😉.
Sign up thru the website (link in bio) or thru your ClassPass account.

Last week I had to take a week social media distance. Usually I am hardly ever on social media. And then suddenly the studio had to close and all the studios were going online and offering classes on a online platform. I was so going along with all the craziness that it totally stressed me out and my toddler at home was feeling this as well. She was suddenly having problems with pooping and started to be constipated. Every time that I was on my phone and laptop she was crying to have pains in her belly.
I know that usually when we or kids have stomach problems it is usually stress that causes this.
So I decided to protect her instead of going into a new online business like
crazy. After all she doesn’t have a clue what’s going on right now. Just that I’m at home 24/7 and that she wants my full attention. Besides her being very bossy she also deserves this.
Surely I was going get it both done somehow. It’s just about prioritizing. As much as I see this time as creating opportunities, I also see this time as taking it slower.
Last week I have been working on setting up a new system to provide you with live online yoga classes at the comfort of your own home with all of your familiar teachers from .
Because in times like these we need yoga to keep you sane and grounded.
✨So today we kickoff with our first Livestream Yin Yoga online class at 18:30. ✨
Check out or Online schedule for this week!! We also try to keep the classes a bit in the same order as our weekly studio schedule so you can continue where you left off once the studio opens again.
The beauty of these live online classes is that at the end of practice you’ll have the opportunity to ask questions and connect with other practitioners, just like you would do at the studio. (this is optional). Please check your email if your a member for further instructions and If you are not a member of studio please DM me for a link.
We hope to inspire you virtually in these times.
Stay Home, Stay Safe!

The time has come for yoga Studio de Pijp to temporarily close the studio until the 6th of April. Due to the recent health and safety press conference made by the Dutch government. The health and safety of our people mean everything to us. This decision pains our hearts and effects all of us: Our students/guest, teachers, the studio as a whole. But we will rise together as well. We are looking into what we can do regarding online classes to still provide some kind of community and get you thru these difficult times with some yoga practices, meditation, tips. Stay tuned!
For now take good care of yourself.
Wishing you all calmness, self love and care in these couple of weeks. Stay healthy and safe.
