🌸 Dankbaarheid is goed voor je brein

Morgen (zaterdag) organiseren we een Ta**ra workshop met als thema "grace". Dat is niet de genade die God uitspreekt over je hoofd, maar iets levends in je eigen systeem, waar je bij komt door dankbaarheid te beoefenen. Dankbaarheid is goed voor je hersenen en dat is bewezen. Even een verhaaltje erover, n.a.v. wat ik erover kon vinden op internet....

Wanneer we spreken over Grace, spreken we over het moment waarop het brein niet meer hoeft te vechten, analyseren of oplossen.
Het is het moment waarop de amygdala — het deel van de hersenen dat waakt over gevaar — het signaal ontvangt:

“Je bent veilig. Er is niets dat nu opgelost hoeft te worden.”

In dat moment gebeurt er iets wonderlijks in het lichaam.
De amygdala stopt met het zenden van alarm-signalen naar de hypothalamus.
Het stresshormoon cortisol daalt.
De adem verdiept zich.
Het hart gaat rustiger kloppen.
En de prefrontale cortex — het deel dat verbonden is met inzicht, compassie en creativiteit — krijgt meer doorbloeding.

We noemen dat de parasympathische activatie: het systeem dat het lichaam herstelt, heelt en vernieuwt.
In deze staat worden herstelgenen geactiveerd, de spijsvertering herstelt, het immuunsysteem kalmeert, en er ontstaan zelfs nieuwe verbindingen in de hersenen — dit is neuroplasticiteit.
Je neuronen leren een ander pad te lopen:
van overleven naar vertrouwen,
van spanning naar stroming,
van angst naar aanwezigheid.

Wanneer we vervolgens gratitude — dankbaarheid — toelaten, versterken we dit proces.
Dankbaarheid activeert gebieden in het brein zoals de mediale prefrontale cortex en de anterior cingulate cortex.
Dat zijn gebieden die betrokken zijn bij empathie, zelfreflectie en verbinding.
Ze zenden kalmerende signalen terug naar de amygdala, waardoor de oude angstpaden verder verzachten.

Je zou kunnen zeggen:

Dankbaarheid is de taal waarmee je je zenuwstelsel vertelt dat het veilig is om te rusten.

Zelfs als je je niet goed voelt, kun je dit systeem wakker maken —
door te herinneren: “Er was ooit een moment waarop ik niets hoefde te doen, en het was goed.”
Die herinnering alleen al verandert de chemie van je hersenen.
Ze opent de poort naar Grace: de moeiteloze staat van zijn waarin je niets afdwingt, en toch alles in beweging komt.

In die staat beginnen lichaam en geest weer samen te ademen.
De grens tussen denken en voelen lost op.
En wat overblijft, is zachtheid —
het besef dat je niet gemaakt hoeft te worden,
maar mag ontvouwen, precies zoals je bent.

Tot zover een stukje theorie en onderbouwing, wat wij westerse mensen zo fijn vinden. Maar je mag natuurlijk ook gewoon komen om te landen en te genieten van de heerlijke energie, zaterdag 11 oktober.

Carla is DJ, Dassana Bambi en Anne geven allebei een prachtig ritueel, ik neem jullie mee in een Ta**ra oefening met de Bandha's en adem (Tantrische Kriya Yoga).
De rest van ons team verwelkomt jullie bij consent oefeningen en als spaceholders waarbij je terecht kan met vragen of om gewoon even er voor je te zijn.

Het Centrum voor Happines

Amsterdam heeft een prachtige plek erbij, waar je in een aangename sfeer ontvangen wordt en even tijd hebt voor jezelf en je eigen ZIJN... Centrum voor Happiness! Het is gelegen in een heerlijk groene, rustige wijk, met heel veel ruimte. In een culturele broedplaats, waar je omringd wordt door ambachtelijke en speelse kunstenaars, zoals: pottenbakkers, boetseerders, fotografen, edelsmeden, zeepmakers, illustrators, kunstschilders, theatermakers, dansers, meubelmakers, circusartiesten en decorbouwers.

Een plek waar je moeiteloos kunt parkeren, en waar je de stad niet voor in hoeft, want het is op 5 minuten van de A10. En als je dat toevallig wèl wilt: je bent in 10 minuten fietsend of met OV in het Centrum! Dat kan alleen maar in Amsterdam Nieuw West. Ons Centrum voor Happiness is gelegen in de Culturele Broedplaats HW10, de ingang is linksom het gebouw aan de achterzijde.

We hebben de beschikking over twee mooie ruimtes waar oa Yoga, meditatie en diverse soorten dans wordt gegeven.

Elke vrijdagavond is er iets leuks te doen! Zoals Chitta! Elke 4e vrijdag van de maand: met workshops of satsang of muziek concert vanaf 19.30 uur en aansluitend lekker dansen op heerlijke hart muziek van een bekende en/of talentvolle DJ.
