How can you make your city (more) sustainable? 3 experts and 3 artists will pitch their ideas on a sustainable future and welcome you to join forces with them on the 18th of October.
The third and last expert that we would like to introduce is Friedemann Römhild (architect and urban planner).
“The excessive use of the private car is a major burden in cities of today, contributing to pollution, noise, stress, aggression and unhealthy lifestyle. In previous decades, almost nothing has happened to counteract this, mostly because it was believed that car dominance is economically and politically inevitable. Recently we see that cities like Copenhagen, Amsterdam and Hamburg actually turn this trend around, and in doing this they also benefit economically and in appeal to citizens, tourists and businesses alike.
I am working on the urban revival of station areas in cities in the Netherlands, in South Africa and in the Middle East. I believe the moment is now to take more fundamental steps away from the care and towards healthy and active mobility patterns. But how can we really make this happen? In the workshop on 18 October, I want to hear about your experience and vision, how you move around in daily life and how you wish this would change. With your ideas, I believe we can make our cities more healthy and liveable places!”
