Fresh chapter, fresh look.
New location. New website. New logo. ✨
First the move, then the website, and finally the logo.
Life doesn’t always follow the expected order—but it all worked out.
Change is hard.
It’s not just packing boxes.
It’s leaving pieces of yourself behind.
Settling into the UK has been exciting…
…but also challenging.
I miss Amsterdam—friends, patients, gyms, the little everyday things that made life feel familiar.
Even so, I know this move was the right step.
Growth often lives in discomfort.
Sometimes the hardest changes bring exactly what we need.
💖 I’m thrilled to be back in Amsterdam 7-9 November!
Teaching a sold-out Yin & Pins with at and treating patients 7–8 Nov (booking link in bio).
Can’t wait to reconnect with familiar faces.
Change is hard…
…but also beautiful!

Strong Ankles = Happy Miles 🏃♀️
Your lateral ankle stabilizers—the peroneal muscles running down the outside of your lower leg—are the unsung heroes of every stride.
💡 Why they matter: The peroneals help evert the foot (pull it outward) and act as dynamic stabilizers, protecting the anterior talofibular ligament (ATFL)—a key ligament that connects the fibula to the talus and stops the ankle from sliding forward or tipping outward. Think of it this way:
🦴 ATFL = static stabilizer (holds the joint steady) 💪 Peroneals = dynamic stabilizers (react in real time to keep you upright)
When the ATFL is strained, the peroneals have to work overtime to keep the ankle from giving way—making strength and balance training essential for every runner.
🛠 Train them: • Single-leg balance (eyes closed for a challenge) • Side-steps with a resistance band • Eccentric calf raises with a slight inward tilt
✨ Orthopedic acupuncture can help: Targeted treatment reduces pain, supports proper ligament healing, and enhances neuromuscular activation so you can run stronger and more stable. Come see me at or
Also- all you and , good luck today- I'm here to help as you recover from the sandy run!
👟 Runner + practitioner perspective: I’m training for at the end of November and treating myself for an annoyed ATFL. Even us practitioners have to carve out time for our own care—proof that recovery and prevention go hand in hand.
Keep your ankles as strong as your training plan.
Your future self will thank you.

Dr. Julie LaBarge is a Californian licensed Chiropractor and Acupuncturist inspired by her passion for athletics and all things active. Her own athletic injuries led her to seek and understand musculoskeletal dysfunctions resulting from overuse and nutritive imbalances. During her youth, exposure to osteopathy and natural remedies subconsciously paved the way for her path into holistic healing modalities.
In 2005, Julie graduated from the University of Calgary in Alberta, Canada. Four years later, she returned to her native California to pursue dual degrees as a Doctor of Chiropractic (DC) and Master of Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine (MAOM). During her internships, Julie found a connection working with the female population, infertility and pre and postnatal care. Her sports background also helped her focus on musculoskeletal issues, pain disorders and overall wellness care for athletes. Dr. Julie’s optimism and enthusiastic outlook on life are also nurtured while seeking to improve people’s health and wellbeing. She is a foodie and travel enthusiast that enjoys Yoga, CrossFit, and the pleasure of good company.
Dr. Julie continues to be an active licensed practitioner of both the California Chiropractic and Acupuncture licensing boards and therefore abides by their strict Code of Safe Conduct and Professional Practice. She is also fully insured to provide these healthful modalities in the Netherlands. She is based in Amsterdam, and treats patients from a practice in De Pijp.
