🌱🍇 Deepening connections while investing in our health

Regards from Romania from my mother's paradise I am currently enjoying, a precious activity I make sure I prioritize in my life.

This connection with her and nature helps me cultivate positive relationships, manage stress, and nourish my body, increasing my overall wellbeing. Furthermore, her garden in Romania produces different gifts than mine in the Netherlands so I reap the benefits of both!

Growing and enjoying the sight of flowers, fruits and vegetables from the garden has been an absolute delight!

Today is about blackcurant as not only do they add a burst of vibrant color to the backyard, but they also offer a multitude of health benefits that make them a true superfood. Here are a few reasons why I believe it's fantastic to indulge in homegrown blackcurrant:

1️⃣ Health benefits: Black currants are loaded with antioxidants, including anthocyanins, flavonols, and vitamin C. These antioxidants help protect the body against harmful free radicals, reducing oxidative stress and inflammation. The high antioxidant content of black currants contributes to their potential health-promoting properties. As an antioxidant powerhouse they provide a tasty and nutritious way to support overall health and well-being. Your immune system, brain, cardivascular system, eyes, digestive system, etc will thank you later.
2️⃣ Exceptional Flavor: Blackcurrants have a distinct and unique taste that can be described as tart, slightly sour, and sweet. Hello peers!
I wanted to share some insights I've gained about the relationship between two mindsets to have to enhance your performance. 🌱

We often associate stress with negative emotions and a decline in performance. But science shows stress can actually be a catalyst for enhancing our performance.

Stress triggers a series of physiological responses in our bodies, designed to heighten our senses and prime us for action. It acts as a signal that our mindbody are preparing to confront a challenge. Embracing this mindset shift allows us to view stress not as an obstacle, but as an opportunity for growth and self-improvement.

The growth mindset—a mindset that embraces challenges, sees failures as stepping stones to success, believes in the ability to develop skills through dedication and perseverance. The growth mindset encourages us to step out of our comfort zones, face challenges head-on, and learn from our experiences. It enables us to reframe stress as a natural part of the learning process, opening doors to innovation, creativity, and breakthroughs we never thought possible💡

Stress, when managed effectively and combined into a growth mindset, can improve physiology and performance in both personal and professional domains.

So, how can we integrate these concepts into our lives? Here are a few practical steps:
1️⃣ Embrace stress: Recognize that stress is not the enemy, but a natural response to challenges. Welcome it as a signal that you're about to embark on a journey of growth and improvement. Learn to recognise when it is too much and know when to back off.
2️⃣ Cultivate a growth mindset: Embrace the belief that abilities and talents can be developed through dedication and effort. Embrace challenges, learn from failures, and persistently seek opportunities for growth.
3️⃣ Practice self-care: Stress management is crucial. Prioritize self-care activities such as exercise, mindfulness, and adequate rest to optimize your overall well-being and resilience.
4️⃣ Foster a supportive environment: Surround yourself with individuals who encourage growth, share knowledge, and challenge you to expand your horizons. Collaborate, exchange ideas, and learn from each other's experiences.

Let's consciously marry those two beliefs, i.e. “stress is enhancing of performance” with cultivating “a growth mindset” as one of the most effective ways to improve performance in essentially any and everything” (Andrew Huberman about a Nature published study) 🌟

Remember, we are capable of achieving great things when we embrace stress, nurture our growth mindset, reshape our perspectives, transcend limits, and inspire others to do the same. 🌎

Cultivating a Growth Mindset: Key to Success as an foreigner, a citizen of the world🌎

Today, I want to delve into an essential aspect of personal and professional growth for people who embark on a journey to build a life and career they love in a new country.

In 1998 I took a leap of faith and moved to the Netherlands, a move both excting and challenging. We leave behind our familiar surroundings, friends, and sometimes even our families, in pursuit of new opportunities and an exciting future. However, the path to success is often paved with obstacles, setbacks, and unforeseen hurdles. In such times, having a growth mindset can make all the difference. 🧠

The attitude and belief that our abilities and intelligence can be developed through dedication, perseverance, and continuous learning. With a growth mindset, we understand that challenges are opportunities for growth, failures are stepping stones to success, and that our potential is not fixed but can be expanded with effort and resilience. 💡

Here's why cultivating a growth mindset is crucial for people like me:

1️⃣ Embracing Challenges: moving to a new country comes with its fair share of challenges. Language barriers, cultural differences, and unfamiliar work environments can feel overwhelming. Hi all! Today, I want to discuss the power of a growth mindset in elevating your leadership journey. 🚀

When I first tried skiing as a teenager, I stopped after a few years, attributing my lack of progress to not having the right equipment. In time I have realized that a growth mindset was the key to overcoming my fears and reaching new levels.

A growth mindset is about believing in our potential for growth and development, both in ourselves and in others. It's recognizing that intelligence, skills, and abilities can be developed through effort, perseverance, and effective strategies. By cultivating this mindset, we open ourselves up to continuous learning, innovation, and improvement.

We know that what we eat has a major impact on how we feel and how we perform during the day. With one of my clients who was struggling with lack of confidence we have found out during our coaching project that her level of testosterone in the body was very low and thus negatively impacted her confidence. So one of the actions that helped her regain and improve her confidence was to improve her hormonal health! We need to go to the root cause and help people perform at their best and be happy!

🌱 Building a Healthy and Balanced Diet 🍽️
Are you looking to create healthy, balanced meals that nourish your body and support your well-being? The Harvard Healthy Eating Plate can be a great guide! 🥦🍓🥕🥗
Here's how you can use the Healthy Eating Plate to make smart choices:
🥑 Healthy Oils: Opt for nutritious vegetable oils like olive. Avoid partially hydrogenated oils with unhealthy trans fats. Remember, low-fat doesn't necessarily mean "healthy."

I am wearing my health coach hat, specializing in hormonal health, for this one.

There are numerous conditions associated with hormonal imbalances in women, from a HPA axis disfunction (too much stress, overly producing stress stress hormons aka cortisol, adrenaline, norepinephrine, yes wired but tired feeling) cascading into a wide array of somatic and emotional symptoms, to thyroid imbalances (my case), to polycistic ovarian Syndrome (PCOS), to the famous PMS or its more debilitating relative, Premenstrual Dysphoric disorder, etc., which negatively affect women’s daily life at work and in personal areas. And we need to get things done.

When women made it to perimenopause and menopause, new surprises down the road will wait for them. It’s part of the nonlinear journey we women undertake in life. It is important to prevent, to do the personal development and the healing work before these stages.

Whatever your situation is, it is very important to know that you can feel better, you are not alone, and there are trained professionals that can help you reframe and address your symptoms so that you can elevate the quality of your life, have more enjoyment, perform at your best and stop shrinking. It is not about apologizing for nature, it is finding the best that works and apply what is possible in your own situation. The resources are there beyond the traditional GP. The world is evolving. There are many effective initiatives out there to help you elevate your life experiences, in this case during the wise years!

What is your relationship with focus and concentration? Do you get frustrated at times because you sense your capacity of accessing deeper focus states is not what it used to be and you find yourself more distracted, noticing your cognitive performance declining at times? Do you notice it is more difficult for you to get into a focused state to do mental or physical work?

Our bodies operate efficiently in a state of balance, transitioning between action and relaxation, deep (focus) thinking and daydreaming. We have our inner rhythms that have to be respected so that we can be at our best, concentrate deeply when it is needed.

Check out a different perspective of looking at focus and receive a couple of ideas to inspire you to improve your focus, minimize distraction, and take your cognitive or physical performance to the next level.

Expressing your needs effectively to reduce stress Every time we do not meet our needs we experience stress. If you are one of those people who experience difficulty in expressing their needs, you might consider reflecting on your assumptions and beliefs you hold in this regard. What prevents you from asking for what you need? In which contexts does this behavior occurs more frequently?

Remember, learning to effectively communicate what you need can help you reduce your stress and flourish. Find yourself a very good thinking partner and navigate your dilemmas in this area. It will pay off later.
