PELVIC HEALTH: RELAXATION
There is a general misconception that to improve an area of the body, we have to strengthen it. This is part of the performance / no-pain-no-gain paradigm, which brought us here were we are. It isn't valid anymore to work through our patterns with more trauma. There is a need to feel, to release, to connect deep inside. Before activation, we need relaxation, release and awareness.
"From a place of stillness we can create"
Contrary of what we have the tendency for, relaxation doesn't need DOING. It doesn't need an action plan or an agenda. You can schedule it but you can't schedule it. You can't own it or control it. You can, indeed, LET IT BE. Let it happen. Be present. Connect. Breath and awareness can guide you and sensation too. Sensation shouldn't be the goal. There shouldn't be a goal. Sensitivity is the mantra. Presence. Feeling. There's no shortcut, bypass or magic button. Nor even an app, hahaha.
Both men and women are in general disconnected from our natural relaxed and present state. Many things play a role in here. It's mainly about our environment, childhood and the strategies we have to build and interact with our reality. Performance, overdoing, anticipating, proving yourself, fear fear of pain, lack of meaning and purpose, direct action as a way to receive, pleasing,... Separation. It's important to gradually make the shift of our awareness from OUTWARDS to INWARDS. We will be more connected to the people and things around us when we bring our focus inwards, paradoxically. Here lies great power.
Breathe in and out. Notice the movements of your belly and chest as you do so. Can you direct your breath to the sides of your rib cage? What about your lower back? Can you direct the breath there, too? And your pelvic floor? Can you feel it? Take your time. Can you feel an expansion of your pelvis as you inhale in that direction?
There we go
Love,
