🎵 Let's talk about s*x baby 🎵
We don't talk about it enough - not during prenatal appointments & it's not a conversation for Sunday lunch with your in-laws 😂
A client recently asked me "when is the right time?"
When, how & if you have s*x after birth is personal to you: if you're a relationship or not, lack of sleep, the type of birth you had, your hormones, s*x drive, co-sleeping with your baby, 6 week bleed after birth, healing perineum, c-section scar..
What's normal for your friend, might not feel right for you & that's OK. You might feel ready literally days after birth, or you might not feel ready even months or years after birth
💕 Listen to your mind & body. You have been through an IMMENSE change. Your body has changed (you might still be healing, your breasts might hurt), your view of your body might have changed. You might be in awe of what your body has achieved, or you might not recognise it any more & feel negatively
💕 Breastfeeding your baby can be awesome: the closeness & connection. Swapping from breastfeeding your baby one minute, to getting jiggy with your partner the next, might not feel comfortable for some people, while others feel ok with this shared intimacy
💕 The release of oxytocin during love-making can cause leaky breasts, you might even feel the let-down
💕 The 6 week bleed (lochia), means that where the placenta was attached to your uterus is still open & healing. There might be an increased risk of infection during in*******se
💕 You might have stitches in your perineum, or trauma to your vaginal, so you might want to wait for that to heal. Go slowly, you might feel nervous the first time you have in*******se
💕 Lack of sleep can leave you exhausted. S*x might be the last thing on your mind. You might just want to hug
💕 It's a myth that you can't get pregnant while breastfeeding. You can, even if your periods haven't returned yet
There's no right or wrong way, do what feels right for you. If you're not ready for in*******se, there are other things you can do. Having an or**sm can be a huge release, so consider ma********on. If you have a partner, talk, be open & honest. There's no rush, take your time ❤️
