Taught in English & Dutch, my classes are a safe, intimate place for women to share their pregnancy journeys with each other. I try to help my ladies learn from each other, support each other and build a community which will serve them well once they are mothers.
To give birth you need to open physically, to do this you must feel safe in doing this emotionally, my classes give you the time, on a weekly basis, to connect with yourself, your changing body and your growing baby. I believe it is important in today’s modern world that you give yourself these 2 hours a week to focus and get in tune with your growing baby and your changing body.
The exercises are yoga based but specifically focused on mental and physical training for labour. You will learn a wide range of positions, movements, breathing and vocal techniques which will keep you active during birth and focused in a calm and capable manner, allowing your body do what it was built for.
I am regularly asked how to encourage a quick labour, and I answer that the best way is to face it instead of running from or fighting it. My classes, both partner and weekly, will prepare you to do exactly this without constriction or fear.
Although I am an advocate for natural birth I do not judge or deny each woman’s right to her own choices. I share my experiences as a doula and teacher for over 34 years to help you make those decisions for yourself openly and honestly, my objective is to help you make your choices undetermined by fear.
My aim is to ensure you are seen, heard and your wishes respected throughout your labour. I routinely work with women who for one reason or another had a previous traumatic birth experience. I help you face and conquer the fears which may have built up and feel strong and free of previous trauma.
Every woman is different, every pregnancy is different and yet there is so much we can share and learn from each other. Thanks to my many years of experience in helping women have the birth experience they want, I have a wealth of birth stories to share with my ladies which invariably help answer their specific concerns and issues. There is not much I haven’t seen!
My classes are international, twice a week and available at 2 different time slots. I also offer partner classes to ensure your partner feels just as confident and capable to support you. Also private pregnancy preparation or massage sessions are possible.
Through my extensive experience I also have a wide network should my ladies want/need advice on midwives, the Dutch hospital system and medical approaches. If you are informed, you can make choices, if you are prepared you can face anything with confidence.
